Donald Trump has a few loose ends to tie before he goes to the White House.
His first major decision as President-Elect could be on the way.
And a federal prosecutor revealed one secret that could change everything for Donald Trump.
A deal involving Hunter Biden and Donald Trump could be in the works
Former President Donald Trump is still facing lawfare from Democrat prosecutors after his election.
But two cases could be coming to a close.
Special Counsel Jack Smith is reportedly looking to shut down his criminal cases against Trump over January 6 and mishandling classified documents.
Trump vowed to fire Smith shortly after his inauguration in January.
Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy said that a “clemency package” for Trump and Hunter Biden could be in the works from the Biden-Harris administration during an appearance on Fox & Friends.
The President’s son was convicted on federal gun charges and pled guilty to federal tax charges.
Hunter Biden could be looking at jail time for his criminal convictions.
McCarthy suggested a deal could be arranged where President Joe Biden pardons his son and in exchange for dropping Smith’s criminal cases against Trump.
Biden has long denied that he would pardon his son but he never has to face the voters again or worry about causing any controversy for an incoming administration by Vice President Kamala Harris.
Joe Biden’s last big act in public life
“I also think from what I can gather that sort of a deal is coming together because everyone understands that President Biden is going to pardon his son Hunter,” McCarthy said. “That is not going to go down well — at least if it’s in a vacuum because, of course, he vowed he wouldn’t do it, not that anyone took that too seriously.”
Dropping the cases against Trump would make a pardon for Hunter Biden more palatable to the public, according to McCarthy.
“But I think it goes down easier for the country if it’s kind of like a clemency package where the Biden-Harris Justice Department dismisses the two cases against former President Trump, President-Elect Trump, because they can’t be prosecuted at this point anyhow. He will be the sitting president of the United States. Then Biden pardons Hunter,” McCarthy explained.
Smith’s cases are dead on arrival the moment that Trump takes his oath of office in January.
Joe Biden can use that as cover to try to save his son from getting thrown in the slammer.
McCarthy thought that ending Smith’s cases would send a signal to the other Democrat prosecutors to end the lawfare.
“I think the signal that sends hopefully to these progressive prosecutors at the state level is that, you know, it’s time to turn the page from lawfare, which proved to be a disaster for the Democrats, I think, in the election,” McCarthy stated.
The former federal prosecutor thought that the Biden Justice Department dropping the case would be more politically beneficial to Trump.
“The other thing that is important here in dismissing the case, so you dismiss it at the Justice Department level rather than having to pardon the incoming president, which is almost like an admission of guilt that Trump doesn’t want to make,” McCarthy said. “If they dismiss it and it’s the Biden-Harris Justice Department that dismisses it. I think the judge goes along with it more easily. Whereas if Trump’s Justice Department has to dismiss the case, they may get pushback from Judge Chutkan.”
Of course, Joe Biden’s last big act in office could be pardoning his son before he rides off into the sunset.
