The media sensationalizes crime stories when they help the Democrats.
Press coverage ratchets up exponentially when a celebrity is involved.
And a Hollywood actor who pulled off a hoax hate crime got one shocking court ruling.
Hate crime hoaxer gets a walk after all
Former Empire actor Jussie Smollett stoked tensions when he claimed that he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack.
Back in 2019, Smollett, who is black and gay, claimed that two MAGA hat-wearing white men attacked him in the middle of the night in downtown Chicago.
The media plastered the story everywhere, and said that the attack was emblematic of life in Donald Trump’s America.
The Chicago Police Department expended significant resources investigating the crime, and ultimately learned that Smollett faked the entire thing.
He paid two actors to stage the assault, and there was extensive evidence to back that up.
Former State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, another George Soros-backed prosecutor, cut Smollett a sweetheart deal.
Her office dropped all charges and Smollett was able to skate without facing jail or admitting guilt.
That allowed Smollett to claim that he did not lie and the hate crime did, in fact, happen.
However, even people on the Left, including then-Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, denounced the deal that Foxx cut.
A special prosecutor was brought in, and Smollett was convicted for filing a false police report.
However, the Illinois State Supreme Court just reversed Smollett’s conviction.
Smollett avoids jail
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that “Smollett had challenged nearly every aspect of his case, arguing that he should have been done with the case after Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s office struck a deal to drop the charges, that the special prosecutor who re-investigated the case and re-indicted him a year later was wrongfully appointed. Smollett spent six days in jail in 2022, before being released to wait out his appeals. An appeals court last year upheld Smollett’s sentence on five low-level felony counts related to lying to police about an attack he and two accomplices staged near his Streeterville apartment.”
Smollett faced five months in jail after sentencing.
Smollett is still holding onto the lie that he did not commit the hoax.
Last month while promoting a new film, he said, “I don’t want to have a felony on my record for something that I didn’t do. . .That’s what we’re fighting for. I know that on the surface it probably seems like why doesn’t he just serve the time, why doesn’t he just let this go. It would be easier if I had in fact done this to say that I did it. . .I’m a grown man and something happened. I can’t tell exactly what did happen, but I can tell you what did not happen, and that’s what I have to sit on. No matter how much people are yelling in my face, saying, ‘You’re a liar, you’re a liar, you’re a liar.’ No, I’m not. No, I’m not. I don’t want them to believe that, but if that is what they believe, that’s on you.”
Making the case look even worse, Foxx was contacted by former Michelle Obama top aide Tina Tchen.
The Obamas were reportedly friends with the Smollett family, so Jussie Smollett truly got favorable treatment.
