The clock is ticking on Justin Trudeau’s time as Prime Minister of Canada.
However, Trudeau isn’t escaping without first suffering more humiliation.
And now the outgoing Canadian Prime Minister is hanging his head after this must-watch comedy sketch predicted his embarrassing future.
Tariffs not the end goal for Trump but a means of securing key objectives and one
Donald Trump made no secret on the campaign trail that if elected to a second term in the White House, he planned to impose tariffs to secure more favorable trade deals for America.
And like many of his other campaign promises, President Trump is making good on his word just weeks into his second administration.
The President announced he would impose a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico and 10% on China.
Despite plenty of warnings, America’s neighbors to the north and south appeared caught off guard.
Both Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo both put on a tough act.
Trudeau and Sheinbaum both threatened to hit back with tariffs of their own.
It wouldn’t be a great idea considering the United States has a much larger and wealthier marketplace than its fellow North American countries.
Trump didn’t flinch in the face of the threats, instead holding firm and even warning Americans there might be a little pain, but it would be worth it in the long run.
With Trump calling their bluff, both Trudeau and Sheinbaum relented and caved to Trump’s demands.
Trump tariff threats successfully achieved intended purpose in rapid time
Both Canada and Mexico agreed to assist in securing their borders with the United States.
According to CNBC, Sheinbaum agreed to send 10,000 soldiers to the border to help prevent drug trafficking.
Meanwhile, The Hill is reporting Trudeau folded and will spend $1.3 billion on a plan to combat fentanyl trafficking at the border.
In return, the President paused their respective tariffs.
Trudeau – who will be leaving his post as Prime Minister once his Liberal party selects a new leader – came out of this showdown with egg all over his face.
And making matters worse for him, thanks to his dismal record, Canadians saw this coming all along.
The Great White North has an illustrious history with sketch comedy.
Second City Television (SCTV) helped launch the careers of the likes of John Candy, Harold Ramis, Catherine O’Hara, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Eugene Levy, and more.
Years later, The Kids in the Hall continued the honored tradition.
Comedians called it months ago
And now Canadians enjoy the comedy of This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
Months ago, before Trump was sworn in as President, the show informally known as 22 Minutes, aired a sketch mocking what would happen if Trudeau visited the then-President-elect at Mar-a-Lago.
The full segment, which runs just shy of three minutes, was posted on the comedy troupe’s YouTube page in early December.
In this case, the laughs are seconded as a prognostication.
In the hilarious clip, Trudeau plans to stand up to Trump about potential tariffs.
However, Trump has other plans.

He tells Trudeau he must eat “the President of burgers,” a Big Mac, with no hands – like a dog.
Trudeau, of course, objects and tries to talk his way out of it.
But Trump keeps countering by upping the tariff.
Eventually, Trudeau gives up and dives headfirst into the McDonald’s hamburger
“Emmm, I’m a hungry little puppy,” the actor portraying Trudeau exclaims. “Emmm, I’m so hungry for my puppy chow. “
The sketch is far better watched than read.
And in this case, it also serves as the perfect parody for how the Trump-Trudeau tariff talks actually turned out.
