Democrats tossed Nancy Pelosi from the Party’s Congressional “leadership” to the curb after the 2022 Midterms.
But she still wields plenty of power in Washington, D.C.
And now Nancy Pelosi flew off the handle when Jon Stewart lifted the veil on this horrific crime.
AOC calls out Pelosi
There’s been no love lost between Reps. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) since the latter first entered Congress under the guise of being a simple former bartender back in the 2018 Midterms.
Their feud has only escalated from there with Pelosi even going so far as to reportedly use what’s left of her power behind the scenes to block Ocasio-Cortez from being appointed as the top Democrat on the powerful House Oversight Committee.
Instead, Pelosi ensured her longtime ally, Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), was given the position, despite calls from within Democrat circles to turn the Party over to a new, more energetic generation of left-wing radicals.
But as has been the case since she first ran for office, AOC has seemingly been undeterred by her battles with Pelosi and the establishment, as she continues to try to make herself into the new face of the Democrat Party.
During a recent appearance on comedian Jon Stewart’s Weekly Show podcast, she even went so far as to take a direct shot at Pelosi by calling out the Democrat establishment’s “hypocrisy” on insider trading in Congress.
“There needs to be Democrats who walk the walk and talk the talk,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “There is an insane amount of hypocrisy, and the hypocrisy is what gets exploited to use the cynicism and wherever there’s a hypocritical window. For example, I think one of the biggest examples of this is insider trading in Congress.”
To her credit, alongside Republicans like Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), AOC previously helped introduce a ban on Congressional stock trading, the Bipartisan Restoring Faith in Government Act.
For her part, Pelosi has been the poster child for calls to ban Congressional stock trading, as she and her husband’s stock portfolios have significantly outperformed virtually all of the top investors in the world in recent years on their way to untold sums of profit – her husband, Paul’s, net worth is reportedly nearly $240 million, while the Congresswoman’s sits just north of $110 million.
So needless to say, when AOC told Stewart how insane it is that Members of Congress believe the American people are “stupid” and can’t see what’s happening right in front of them, it was a direct shot across the bow at Pelosi, who has adamantly opposed the bipartisan effort to ban such practices.
“It’s so crazy,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “I mean, like, it’s the end of the thing. Like, people think that everyday people are stupid. I’m like, ‘Do you all really think that people don’t see this s***?’”
“Give me a f**king break!”
Stewart went on to point out that as Members of Congress, they are privy to a wealth of insider knowledge about companies they regulate through Congressional Committees, and have foreknowledge of impending regulations that would impact entire industries, giving them a totally unfair advantage not only over normal Americans, but also Wall Street titans, like Warren Buffett.
“You run the casino!” Stewart exclaimed.
“And then we’re supposed to act like money only corrupts Republicans?” Ocasio-Cortez replied. “Give me a f***ng break!”
Now would probably be a good time to sear that last sentence into your memory, because we’ll probably never see truer words come out of AOC’s mouth for as long as we live.
Regardless, it’s abundantly clear that since the 2024 election concluded and President Donald Trump returned to the White House, the Democrat Party has become a rudderless ship.
On one hand, old-guard, establishment Democrats, like Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), are desperately attempting to cling to control over the Party by simply rerunning the playbook they’ve always run.
On the other, AOC, her so-called “Squad,” and the rest of the younger, far more ideologically-driven, left-wing extremists are desperately attempting to elevate themselves to a point in which they can seize control of the Democrat Party.
And quite frankly, whether it’s Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat establishment, or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the woke outrage mob, Democrats will continue to struggle so long as both factions within their party remain so disconnected from the reality normal Americans experience firsthand every single day.
