In just a couple years’ time, Vivek Ramaswamy went from relatively unknown to a prominent part of the GOP’s future.
But right now, the young entrepreneur is firmly focused on the here and now.
And Vivek Ramaswamy just issued a warning that has this top RINO shaking in fear.
Ohio’s game of political chairs
Governors have a great deal of power and influence when it comes to shaping their states – particularly the executive branch, even the elected positions.
An example of a head of state wielding his authority for good is Florida’s Ron DeSantis.
The Republican from the Sunshine State has put a team of American First patriots in place who have been advancing conservative-populist policy at a record-setting pace.
But then there are political game-player Governors.
The perfect example of this is Governor Mike DeWine (R-OH).
DeWine is an establishment Republican who is termed out of office after 2026.
He has spent these early days of 2025 putting the wheels in motion for his influence to last long before he leaves office.
The political gamesmanship truly began when then-Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) became the new Vice President-elect of the United States.
As Governor, DeWine had the duty to appoint a successor until a special election in 2026 was held to fill out the remainder of Vance’s U.S. Senate term.
DeWine passed up true conservatives like Frank LaRose, Josh Mandel, and Jim Renacci.
Instead, he went with his Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted, who at least is better than liberal Republican Matt Dolan who was also in heavy consideration.
It’s rumored by political experts in Columbus that the choice of Husted was mostly aimed at paving the way for Ohio Attorney General David Yost to succeed DeWine as Governor.
However, Vivek Ramaswamy appears to have other ideas.
Vivek Ramaswamy files papers to run for Governor
Since Donald Trump burst onto the scene and crafted a new GOP agenda that was more friendly to the working class, Ohio has turned bright red.
And Ramaswamy believes the Buckeye State deserves a Governor who will follow the Trump platform.
And, apparently, Ramaswamy believes, if you want something done right, do it yourself.
After receiving a standing ovation at his Springfield, OH town hall, Vivek Ramaswamy gets a question from the audience:
Q: Are you going to run for governor of Ohio?
VIVEK: I’m a little more inclined than I was about 10 seconds ago.

The Washington Post is reporting that the founding co-chair of President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has filed his paperwork to run for Governor of Ohio.
According to the Post, Ramaswamy will officially launch his candidacy next week.
The launch is expected to be held at CTL Aerospace Inc. in Ramaswamy’s hometown of Cincinnati.
That will be followed by remarks at Axium Packaging outside Columbus, where Ramaswamy currently resides.
And then, Ramaswamy will crisscross the state in a couple of days visiting spots in Toledo and Cleveland.
Can Ramaswamy win?
But where does this leave DeWine’s handpicked successor, Attorney General Yost?
WPA Intelligence released a potential GOP gubernatorial primary poll earlier this month for Club for Growth.
📊 2026 Ohio Governor GOP Primary
• Ramaswamy – 57%
• Yost – 26%

Ramaswamy enjoyed a huge lead in the survey with 57% support.
Yost was 31 points behind at just 26%.
In third place was Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague, who was rumored to be interested in a run for the Governor’s mansion.
However, in early February, Treasurer Sprague said he would back a Ramaswamy candidacy should the DOGE co-chair decide to run.
Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague is spot-on here. We were at the bleeding edge of the Industrial Revolution & patriots flocked to live here. Ohio can be that state again. Robert was a top contender for the upcoming Governor race & he’ll be a major player in shaping our future. 🙏🏾🇺🇸 https://t.co/s5oT8PUH8K

“I believe Vivek Ramaswamy is the leader we need to lead Ohio forward with a bold vision of conversation reform,” Sprague tweeted. “Should he run for Governor, he will have my full support!”
Ramaswamy was grateful for the kind words.
“Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague is spot-on here,” Ramaswamy responded. “We were at the bleeding edge of the Industrial Revolution and patriots flocked to live here. Ohio can be that state again. Robert was a top contender for the upcoming Governor race and he’ll be a major player in shaping our future.”
