Cory Booker once declared himself Spartacus – and the documents he "risked everything" to release had already been cleared for hours.
Now the New Jersey senator is auditioning for a bigger stage.
And what came out of his mouth in Detroit this weekend should make every American ask exactly who he's trying to mobilize.
Cory Booker Michigan Speech Calls for Foot Soldiers While Dismissing God
Booker appeared Saturday at the Michigan Democratic Women's Caucus Legacy Luncheon – one of three out-of-state Democrats, including Kamala Harris and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, all already circulating as 2028 presidential contenders.
He spoke for roughly 25 minutes, shouting and gesturing as he warned the crowd about darkness descending on America.
"Ladies and gentlemen, there is a storm in our nation!" Booker bellowed.
"There is darkness and wind. People are getting hurt. What we need is not from on high. We need foot soldiers of our Democracy who, in times of trial, are willing to stand up!"
He pointed skyward when he said "not from on high."
"I don't want the Michigan hand after your August primary – I want the Michigan fist," Booker shouted.
"I want you to punch a hole in the wall of resistance. I want you to grab a sledgehammer and knock some stuff down."
He closed with a call to "redeem the dream of America" and a demand that Democrats trade prayer for street-level agitation.

Cory Booker Spartacus Moment Was a Fraud and He Has Never Stopped
This is who Cory Booker is.
In September 2018, during Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Booker declared he was willing to be expelled from the Senate for releasing documents he claimed were confidential.
"This is about the closest I'll ever have in my life to an 'I am Spartacus' moment," Booker announced from the Senate floor.
The problem: the documents had already been cleared for release hours before his dramatic speech.
White House records representative William Burck confirmed his office cleared the documents the night before – after Booker's own staff had requested it.
Fox News reporter Shannon Bream pressed Booker's office directly: when exactly did the senator learn the documents were cleared?
His staff refused to answer.
Booker has never shaken the label.
When his 25-hour Senate floor speech made headlines in 2025, White House spokesman Harrison Fields reached back to the same playbook: Booker was hunting for another "I am Spartacus" moment, Fields said, and it hadn't worked during his failed 2020 presidential campaign.
"He's not Spartacus," Fields said. "He's a spoof."
Cory Booker 2028 Presidential Run Would Be Built on the Same Empty Theater
Here is what Cory Booker actually told a room full of Democrats in a swing state he needs to win.
He told them God couldn't help.
He pointed at the sky and said what they needed was "not from on high."
Then he asked them to pick up sledgehammers.
That's not a political speech – that's a man telling Christians their faith is irrelevant to the fight he's recruiting them for.
Booker calls himself a Christian who loves his enemies and fights them "with ferocity" in the same breath.
That contradiction is the whole story.
He ran for president in 2020 and dropped out before Iowa – unable to qualify for a single debate.
Now he's back on the trail, auditioning in Michigan alongside Harris and Beshear, and his entire pitch is noise, fists, and foot soldiers with God benched.
A man who dismisses divine help while demanding an army and calling it Christianity has no business anywhere near the White House – and Michigan conservatives should make sure their neighbors know exactly what he said.
