Democrats spent a week screaming that Trump was destroying our sailors.
CNN and NBC News ran the story of the year – food shortages, sailors jumping ship, a Navy in crisis.
Then CENTCOM released a statement that stopped the entire narrative cold.
USS Abraham Lincoln Deployment Reports Spark Democrat Outrage
The USS Abraham Lincoln has been deployed for more than 260 days.
More than 200 of those days came with no port call at all – the longest such stretch by a modern-era carrier.
It left San Diego last November on a routine Pacific deployment expected to last seven months, then was redirected to the Middle East in January as the standoff with Iran turned into a war.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal fired off a letter to Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
Sen. Ruben Gallego described sailors enduring moldy showers, rationed food, and broken toilets.
CNN and other outlets ran with reports that sailors had jumped overboard and that morale had collapsed entirely.
One story claimed seven sailors had died in a shipboard brawl.
Here is the part the media buried.
CENTCOM Statement Shuts Down Reports of Sailors Going Overboard
U.S. Central Command released a statement this week directly rebutting the coverage.
"These reports are FALSE," CENTCOM said.
No sailors died in a brawl.
The one sailor who went overboard on August 3 was recovered within the hour and treated by the ship's medical staff.
CENTCOM pointed to something the network anchors conveniently skipped – the Lincoln has maintained an 84.4 percent crew reenlistment rate, among the highest of any carrier in the fleet.
Sailors who are supposedly desperate to escape a floating nightmare are reenlisting to stay in the Navy at a rate most ships never touch.
Hegseth backed it up directly.
"The reckless and shameless American media completely and intentionally misrepresent the USS Abraham Lincoln," he wrote.
He praised the sailors as remarkable service members carrying out one of the Navy's most demanding modern missions.
Operation Epic Fury and Why the USS Abraham Lincoln's Deployment Made History
The Lincoln was not floating around the Gulf on a peacetime cruise.
It launched F/A-18s in Operation Epic Fury.
It helped enforce the blockade that choked off Iranian oil ports.
It flew more than 10,000 aircraft sorties and dropped 1.5 million pounds of ordnance.
Iran's Supreme Leader was eliminated within hours of the campaign's launch.
Thirty-eight days later, the White House declared victory and Iran agreed to a ceasefire.
This is not the first time the Lincoln has carried this weight.
In 2020, the same ship set the prior modern-era deployment record at 291 days, sent to the Gulf to deter the very same regime.
The Lincoln has now carried that weight twice, in two different standoffs with the same regime.
Trump Says USS Abraham Lincoln Deployment Not Nearly Long Enough
A reporter asked Trump Friday at Joint Base Andrews if the Lincoln's deployment had gone on too long.
Trump replied, "No, no, no. Not nearly long enough."
The left treated it like a gaffe.
It was not.
Trump confirmed the ship is already being relieved by the USS George Washington, which is steaming toward the region right now.
He said the Lincoln's mission mattered enough to keep going as long as it took to finish the job.
That is what a Commander in Chief says when the country just won.
Here is what fires me up about this story.
Democrats built a media campaign off the backs of 5,000 sailors and Marines before CENTCOM's own numbers were ever public.
They spent months attacking the Iran war that made this deployment necessary in the first place.
Now they want credit for suddenly caring about the people who carried it out.
Blumenthal wants answers by August 27.
CENTCOM already answered.
The Lincoln is coming home.
The George Washington is on the way.
And the sailors who just helped end a thirty-year standoff with Iran deserve better than a Democrat press release built on a story CENTCOM had to publicly correct.
