Democrats are known for telling all sorts of lies and fairy tales to force their left-wing agenda on the American people.
As far as they’re concerned the ends always justify the means.
But one cable news host just took Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to task for a twisted conspiracy theory.
Radical left-wing candidates in many Democrat strongholds across the country significantly underperformed expectations as increases in crime put the Left’s soft-on-prime policies under a microscope.
For example, in Oregon, voters still scared by the 2020 riots orchestrated by left-wing domestic terrorist groups, like Antifa and Black Lives Matter, which nearly burned the city of Portland to the ground, helped make the state’s Gubernatorial race a toss-up heading into Election Day.
Despite the fact that the state has not elected a Republican Governor since 1987, Democrat Tina Kotek barely escaped with just over a 3-point win.
Likewise, in New York, where crime has rapidly increased in recent years as Democrat politicians who control the state embraced the “Defund The Police” movement, Republican Gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin came within just 5 points of defeating Democrat incumbent Governor Kathy Hochul.
Of course, facts don’t matter to the Left, though, as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez proved in a recent podcast interview when the topic of rising crime in New York was mentioned.
In an interview on The Breakfast Club, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez actually claimed out loud that crime wasn’t on the rise in New York City, but was instead somehow on the decline.
“A lot of people think that crime is up, when we actually see that shootings are down, when we see that huge indicators on the most violent crime in New York City is down,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed.
As ridiculous as that statement is – and make no mistake, it’s insanely ridiculous to ignore every bit of data, statistics, and facts to make that claim – it wasn’t even AOC’s most ludicrous comment of the exchange.
In fact, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez actually admitted that crime is up on New York City’s subway system, but she chose to claim that was merely the result of the city deploying more police officers to patrol the subway.
“Subway crime is up,” AOC admitted. “But let’s also note that subway crime is up after they committed so many more officers to the subway system. So that also tells us from a policy perspective, adding more cops to the subway isn’t solving this problem.”
It’s almost as if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes that if police officers weren’t in the subways reporting the crime they encounter, it simply wouldn’t exist – out of sight, out of mind, apparently.
But Fox News’ Lisa Kennedy was having none of the left-wing radical’s nonsense, and proceeded to take Ocasio-Cortez to task in a recent episode of Outnumbered.
“She’s delusional,” Kennedy declared. “She’s flat-out wrong. If she believes it, she’s not fit to serve.”
And as expected, all of the actual facts of the situation are totally against AOC’s claims.
According to an August 2022 report compiled by the New York City government, crime in the city is up 26% overall, while five categories identified as major crimes have also increased.
“Overall index crime in New York City increased in August 2022 by 26% compared with August 2021 (11,357 v. 9,014),” New York City’s report read. “Five of the seven major index-crime categories saw increases, driven by a 38% increase in robbery (1,630 v. 1,181), a 34.7% increase in grand larceny (4,687 v. 3,480), and a 31.1% rise in burglary (1,356 v. 1,034).”
Most people in New York clearly know that the nonsense coming out of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’ mouth is total garbage, though, as evidenced by Zeldin’s performance in the Gubernatorial race.
As a matter of fact, Zeldin’s performance statewide, coupled with the state’s newly redrawn Congressional Districts that were mandated by a judge after New York Democrats attempted to gerrymander the state in the Left’s favor, even helped Republicans win four seats on Long Island and defeat Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney in the Hudson Valley.
The argument could even be made that crime has spiraled so far out-of-control in New York that, outside of Florida, the Empire State is the only other state to see anything resembling a “Red Wave” last Tuesday.
And quite frankly, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ lies about crime in New York could very well continue to help fuel a Republican resurgence in the state.
