The media has taken every opportunity imaginable to smear Donald Trump and drag his reputation through the mud.

Even some faces at friendlier news networks join the Trump-bashing to try and generate fame.

And a former Fox News star just stabbed Donald Trump in the back with this one nasty insult.

Media capsizes over Donald Trump order on the Gulf of America

One of President Donald Trump’s first acts in office was signing an executive order declaring a name change of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

Democrats and their allies in the media went ballistic in rage over the minor decision.

The Associated Press took it a step further by refusing to acknowledge the name change, making it clear that their stylebook would continue using the old name instead.

The Associated Press once held the gold standard for best practices in journalism with their stylebook.

But in the wake of their decision to engage in a petty political battle, the Trump administration banned the Associated Press from being a permanent member of the White House Press pool – which gave them access to both the Oval Office as well as Air Force One.

Following the White House’s decision to revoke the AP’s credentials, so-called journalists from several fake news media outlets threw a fit, claiming that this was a massive assault on freedom of the press.

In the past, the AP had no issue following with governmental requests for name changes.

The government of Ukraine requested that the Associated Press change the spelling of the nation’s capital from Kiev to Kyiv.

And during Barack Obama’s presidency, they played along with his order to rename Mount McKinley to Mount Denali – a move that Trump swiftly reversed.

Former Fox News star delivers a nasty dig at Trump

Major Garrett was the White House Correspondent for Fox News during the Obama administration.

But once Obama left office, Garrett departed Fox News to join the left-wing media – becoming the Chief Washington Correspondent over at CBS.

Garrett recently made a nasty dig at Trump, attacking him over his decision to remove the Associated Press from his press poll during a recent discussion put on by the Allbritton Journalism Institute’s NOTUS news arm titled “Media and Democracy: Covering Trump 2.0.”

“The spat with the AP fundamentally makes the President look much weaker than I think he realizes,” attacked Garrett. “He doesn’t need to keep the AP out. Come on.”

“That is undercutting everything he said last night about removing censorship and government control over speech and access,” he claimed.

Trump boasted about his plan to end government censorship while promoting free speech during his speech before a joint session of Congress.

And dismissing the Associated Press from the White House Press pool is in no way a censoring of what they publish at their outlet.

The White House press pool only has room for about 13 journalists, which excludes a significant number of other media outlets from direct, unfettered access.

But that is not stopping Garrett from trying to paint the Associated Press as a victim in this scenario, despite the publication’s adamant decision to spread misinformation by using an incorrect name for the Gulf of America.

The former Fox News media figure said he believed that Trump would ultimately give in to the Associated Press in this fight.

“Now the White House will find itself trying to dial this in and out,” Garrett claimed. “And I think for a while they’ll like it.”

“But I think over a while, based on my knowledge of the President, he’ll get bored with it because it makes him look weak,” concluded the former Fox News star.

Even Major Garrett refuses to understand that the freedom of the press is not a Constitutional guarantee that every single journalist has a right to enter the Oval Office whenever they want to ask a question.
