Dr. Anthony Fauci thought he was invincible.
The federal government’s once highest paid employee thought he could bluff through anything.
Now his worst nightmare is coming true as Democrats are now joining Republicans on a bill that threatens to expose his secrets.
From the start, Fauci tried to discredit the theory that the virus escaped from a lab and denied he was funding illegal and risky gain-of-function research.
Gain-of-function research refers to intentionally altering a virus, which – even if it’s being done for studying how to stop a future mutation – is potentially one of the riskiest projects any lab could undertake.
Fauci routinely claimed the evidence pointed to the virus originating naturally, jumping from an animal to humans possibly at a Wuhan wet market that sold animal meat.
But the FBI and Department of Energy recently cast doubts on that, releasing reports which concluded that the virus most likely originated from a lab in Wuhan.
Now, Republicans are pushing new legislation that could add to the evidence publicly available supporting the lab leak theory.
The GOP bill would require President Joe Biden to declassify all information on the Chinese lab where the COVID-19 virus may have leaked out, sparking the pandemic.
And the slim Republican House Majority is getting a big boost on that effort thanks to a key Democrat announcing he supports the legislation.
As the highest-ranking Democrat on the Selected Committee on Intelligence, Rep. Jim Himes’ (D-CT) support is significant.
“I plan to support this legislation, both in committee, where we will mark up a companion bill this evening, and the full House later this week,” Himes told the House Rules Committee.
Himes noted that it’s always a challenge to figure out how a virus originated, but China’s Communist government is making it far more difficult to conduct a real investigation.
“At every juncture, the PRC (People’s Republic of China) government has obfuscated and obstructed legitimate inquiries, a deeply irresponsible approach to global public health,” Himes declared.
The bill is already expected to pass the House, but if Himes’ support encourages more Democrats to get on board, the momentum will help it have a better shot of making it through the Senate and pressuring Joe Biden into signing it.
“The COVID 19 Origins Act is not the bill I would have necessarily drafted on the topic, but I support it because I share the belief that the intelligence community should continue to get to the bottom of COVID’s origin,” Himes continued. “And importantly, I believe that they should make as much public as they can so the American people can consider the best available information we have, as opposed to marinating and conjecture and speculation and conspiracy theories.”
The bill requires the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) to declassify “any and all information” pertaining to any connection between the pandemic and the infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Information the Committee is seeking includes details about any research on coronaviruses carried out in the lab in Wuhan.
They also want to know if any workers got sick, along with information about any of their symptoms.
Despite their best efforts, Dr. Anthony Fauci, ruling class elites, Big Tech, and the media are watching their campaign to discredit the lab leak theory crumble.
