Donald Trump is facing a bigger threat to his personal safety than any Presidential candidate in decades.
Democrats’ violence-inducing rhetoric coupled with the Secret Service’s apparent refusal to provide the former President with adequate security have created a terrifying situation.
And now a Navy SEAL’s bone-chilling warning about the Secret Service stopped everyone dead in their tracks.
More avoidable failures
The second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump has once again exposed crucial failures within the Secret Service’s efforts to protect the Republican Presidential nominee.
The would-be assassin was effectively able to set up a sniper’s nest along a fence that enclosed the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where the former President was spending his Sunday afternoon golfing with a friend.
That allowed the would-be assassin to get within just a few hundred yards of Trump before the barrel of his scoped rifle was eventually spotted by the Secret Service, causing them to confront him.
After making a run for it, the would-be assassin was ultimately arrested in neighboring Martin County.
But even though the Secret Service was able to stop the plot to take Trump’s life, the fact that yet another deranged left-wing activist was able to get within rifle range of the former President has once again raised serious questions about the agency’s efforts to protect him.
And during a recent interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast, former Navy SEAL turned Congressman Eli Crane (R-AZ) gave a simple answer for why Trump continues to be endangered by such situations.
According to Crane, the Secret Service’s security priorities are completely flawed, as the agency uses their protectees’ titles to dictate what level of security they should be provided, rather than the level of threats each individual faces.
“I think one of the problems with the security within the Secret Service is that they’re providing security based on people’s titles and not based on the threats that the individuals under their umbrella of protection have towards them,” Crane explained.
Since leaving office in January 2021, Trump has not had the same level of Secret Service protection as President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, even though he clearly faces significantly more threats than either of them.
“It’s clear as day to anybody that nobody has more threats to them than Donald Trump,” Crane added. “So, [acting Secret Service] Director Rowe, you cannot keep hiding behind the fact that he’s not the acting President. He has more threats against him, clearly, than anybody in the country right now.”
Rowe has demanded more taxpayer-funded resources for the agency despite previously saying that the sufficiency of the Secret Service’s annual $3 billion budget wasn’t an issue.
Trump should heed this advice
Of course, while the level of protection Trump is receiving is certainly a major issue that must be addressed, the second attempt on his life raised an even bigger potential issue that every American should be demanding answers to.
You see, the former President’s schedule for the day of the second assassination was never made public.
In fact, Trump’s decision to play a round of golf that day was a last-minute decision, meaning only those closest to him would have any indication of what he was up to.
Nevertheless, the would-be assassin just happened to be perfectly positioned to take full advantage of Trump’s last minute decision, even somehow choosing to sit on the exact path Trump would be taking.
Furthermore, the Democrat activist was able to position himself in the spot for some 12 hours without ever being noticed by any of the many Secret Service agents supposedly ensuring the premises remained secure.
That’s led many Americans, including Rep. Crane, to wonder whether anyone inside the Secret Service was leaking information about Trump’s whereabouts.
“I would advise the former President of the United States to beef up his private security detail that… I believe he has so that he can have watchers that are loyal to him watching the watchers, in case they are leaking stuff,” Crane stressed.
The Senate and House have both unanimously passed legislation that would boost security for Presidential candidates, like Trump, to ensure they receive the same level of protection as the President.
But at this point, there’s little reason for Donald Trump or the American people to trust the Secret Service – or any government agency for that matter.
And additional protection or taxpayer-funded resources won’t change that until there is a major overhaul of the Secret Service.
