There’s a war raging in the Republican Party between Donald Trump and his supporters and the old guard establishment.
Liz Cheney recently emerged as one of the top leaders of the Never Trump movement within the GOP.
And a New York Post reporter was shocked when Liz Cheney said this about running for President in 2024.
The House Republican Caucus is holding their annual retreat this week in Orlando, Florida.
So far, most of the reports from the meeting have been from Liz Cheney due to her willingness to attack and criticize Donald Trump every chance she gets.
But she went one step further at the retreat, hinting to a reporter from the New York Post that she was planning to run for President in 2024.
“I’m not ruling anything in or out — ever is a long time,” Cheney told the New York Post.
Liz Cheney then launched into her usual attack on Trump and his supporters, saying that the 2024 nominee must be someone who accepted Joe Biden’s victory – adding that anyone who objected to the results on January 6 should be automatically disqualified from running.
“I think we have a huge number of interesting candidates, but I think that we’re going to be in a good position to be able to take the White House. I do think that some of our candidates who led the charge, particularly the senators who led the unconstitutional charge, not to certify the election, you know, in my view that’s disqualifying,” she said.
“I think that adherence to the Constitution, adherence to your oath has got to be at the top of the list. So, I think, you know that certainly will be a factor that I’m looking at and I think a number of voters will be looking at as they decide about ’24,” Cheney concluded.
The old guard establishment is looking for a pro-amnesty globalist who is willing to cut deals with the Democrats in order to “get things done” in Washington.
And Liz Cheney seems to be positioning herself to be that RINO the establishment wants.
