A radical Democrat scheme would make Florida a tourist destination for all the wrong reasons

The Internet prepares for a bevy of Spring Break photos no one wants to see.

Florida is already one of the most popular vacation destinations in the country, if not the world.

But now Democrats want to bring a new type of tourist to the Sunshine State.

And this radical Democrat scheme would make Florida a tourist destination for all the wrong reasons.

Democrats want to make Florida an abortion tourist destination

Pro-abortion forces have been using ballot measures to expand abortion-on-demand.

They turned to these measures after the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision in 2022 that overturned Roe v. Wade.

But pro-Life forces have been working as well, passing strong pro-Life laws across the country.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a heartbeat bill last year that bans most abortions after six weeks.

Democrats in Florida then gathered enough signatures to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot to enshrine abortion-on-demand until the moment of birth into Florida’s Constitution.

Amendment 4 would wipe out DeSantis’ heartbeat bill and any laws restricting abortion in Florida.

But only if it receives 60% of the vote in November.

DeSantis has rightfully warned that if it passes the Sunshine State will become an abortion tourism destination.

“If this amendment were to be enacted, you would absolutely have people coming to Florida for this purpose,” DeSantis said.

Amendment 4 also includes a major loophole to get around the weak restrictions on abortion in it that allows non-physician health care providers to recommend that a woman needs an abortion at any point in a pregnancy, for any, or no reason.

DeSantis points out that this would be exploited for financial gain at the expense of women.

“And if people could make money, non-physicians could make money to be involved, they will do that,” DeSantis stated.

Almost all the Republican-controlled states in the southeast currently have heartbeat laws or total bans on most abortions.

So, if Amendment 4 passes, Florida could be the go-to destination for women in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, and other Southern states.

Cheap flights to the Sunshine State and its proximity to states with strict abortion laws could turn it into an abortion tourism hotspot.

Pro-abortion industry is lying to Florida voters

The language in Amendment 4 is specifically designed to hide just how extreme it is from Florida voters.

“They have a very clear agenda about what they want that to be. It says health care provider instead of physician,” DeSantis said. “You don’t even have to have a medical license to be able to be greenlighting late-term abortions all the way up to the moment of birth. That’s insane. I don’t think any other state has done that. . . . That cannot be undone by legislation if that is to pass.”

Supporters of the amendment have even been running deceptive ads that falsely claim Amendment 4 won’t do away with Florida’s parental consent law.

“These left-wing groups are lying to you about what their amendment means about Florida law. Why would you trust them to vote for this left-wing amendment?” DeSantis argued. “I think actually some of these ads should be taken off the air because they’re totally contrary to what the statute is. But I think voters are going to be able to figure this all out, and they’ll know kind of what the facts are.”

Florida could become the big abortion destination in the southeast if Amendment 4 passes, and the greedy pro-abortion industry will cash in.
