One of Donald Trump’s biggest achievements was appointing three new Justices to the Supreme Court during his four years in office.
Since Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life, a President’s nominees can impact American life for decades.
And a Supreme Court Justice just went on CNN and said the one thing Joe Biden did not want to hear.
Left-wing groups and organizations are putting enormous pressure on liberal 82-year-old Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to go ahead and retire while Democrats still control the Senate.
They’re pushing Breyer to retire in hopes to avoid a replay of when Ruth Bader Ginsburg refused to retire after Barack Obama’s re-election in 2012, which allowed Donald Trump to nominate her replacement.
However, in an interview with CNN, Justice Breyer just admitted that he had absolutely no plans on stepping down and retiring anytime in the near future.
According to Breyer, there are only two factors that will determine his retirement.
“Primarily, of course, health,” Breyer told CNN. “Second, the court.”
CNN asked Breyer if he had any immediate plans to which Breyer offered up a curt, one-word answer.
“No,” Breyer told CNN, before explaining that being the most senior liberal justice on the court “has made a difference to me. […] It is not a fight. It is not sarcasm. It is deliberation.”
Of course, earlier this year, court experts and pundits believe Breyer convinced conservative justices to offer a new ruling rather than a sweeping victory in a key case.
In that case, Catholic Social Services sued the city of Philadelphia after the city refused to contract with the Catholic agency for foster care over the organization’s opposition to gay marriage.
Breyer convinced the court’s other two liberals to come along for a 9-0 decision in the Catholic agencies favor, but he also convinced Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh to join the court’s three other conservatives in reversing a 1990 precedent that allows the government to discriminate against the free exercise of religion.
And now, with the court preparing to hear cases on the Second Amendment, abortion and affirmative action, perhaps Breyer is staying on the court in hopes he can pull off another miracle.
However, with Republicans only needing to flip one seat to take back the Senate, the left will be holding their breath on Breyer retiring.
