Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is used to getting her way inside the Democrat Party.
But not anymore.
And this top Democrat spoke two words about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that no one saw coming.
Former Obama Campaign Manager Jim Messina slammed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for endorsing a left-wing challenger to Democrat National Campaign Committee Chairman Sean Maloney.
Messina slammed Ocasio-Cortez endorsing a Primary challenger to Maloney as “dumb sh!t” that will cost the Party control of Congress in the fall.
“This is so counter-productive. The Supreme Court is about to outlaw abortion. We could lose both houses. So we are going to focus our time running against each other? Now we’re primarying commited [sic] progressives because. . .why? If we lose house it’s because of dumb sh*t like this,” Messina wrote on social media.
Ocasio-Cortez recently announced she had endorsed New York State Assemblywoman Alessandra Biaggi against Maloney.
“Through hard work, Alessandra was able to break through and deliver a series of progressive wins for New York State,” Ocasio-Cortez stated. “Now, she’s ready to take her leadership to Congress where I know she’ll continue fighting for working people.”
Maloney tried to brush off Ocasio-Cortez endorsing a Primary challenger against him by claiming to be a strong ally of hers in fighting to impose the Marxist Green New Deal.
“I respect Representative Ocasio-Cortez and have worked with her on a number of policy matters, including as a co-sponsor of the Green New Deal. But, on her endorsement, we are going to have to agree to disagree,” Maloney declared. “This election comes down to voters in NY-17, and I am honored to have received overwhelming support locally, including endorsements from nearly 40 elected leaders and Democratic Party committees.”
Ocasio-Cortez declared war on Maloney after he announced his intention to run for re-election in New York’s newly-redrawn 17th Congressional District.
A special master redrew the district maps after the State Supreme Court threw out the Democrats’ initial redistricting effort as an unconstitutional gerrymander.
But the new 17th District contained 73 percent of the old district of Ocasio-Cortez ally, and fellow socialist, Congressman Mondaire Jones.
Maloney announcing his run in the 17th forced Jones to switch districts and earned him the wrath of Ocasio-Cortez.
And now top Democrat Party officials understand that Ocasio-Cortez’s intraparty war could lead to defeat in November.
