Last week the Senate passed a $3.5 trillion spending bill that includes funding for the Green New Deal.
With Democrats in control of the House, Ocasio-Cortez thought she was on the verge of a major political victory.
But a top Senate Democrat just ruined Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s plans for the Green New Deal.
Nancy Pelosi vowed to link the $3.5 trillion socialist spending bill to the $1.2 trillion “infrastructure” spending bill in order to appease the moderate and liberal wing of the Democrat Party in the House.
Even though the $1.2 trillion spending bill serves as a down payment on the Green New Deal, far-left Democrats led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, still refused to support the $1.2 trillion spending bill unless it was combined with the $3.5 trillion spending bill.
But the House agreement is now in shambles thanks to Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema.
Senator Sinema’s office released a statement declaring her opposition to a $3.5 trillion spending bill saying the $1.2 trillion fake infrastructure bill “is a historic win for our nation’s everyday families and employers and, like every proposal, should be considered on its own merits,” Sinema spokesperson John LaBombard declared. “Proceedings in the U.S. House will have no impact on Kyrsten’s views about what is best for our country – including the fact that she will not support a budget reconciliation bill that costs $3.5 trillion.”
If Sinema convinces the Senate to make cuts to Bernie Sanders’ $3.5 trillion socialist welfare spending bill, Ocasio-Cortez and her allies in the House could use their power to then kill the $1.2 trillion spending bill.
This puts Nancy Pelosi in a tight situation with little room for mistake.
Especially after West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin followed up with a statement saying he agrees with Sinema that Pelosi must delink the two bills.
“It would send a terrible message to the American people if this bipartisan bill is held hostage. I urge my colleagues in the House to move swiftly to get this once in a generation legislation to the President’s desk for his signature,” Manchin’s statement read.
To try and maneuver out, Pelosi and her foot soldiers in the House moved forward on the $3.5 trillion behemoth and passed a nonbinding commitment to vote on the $1.2 trillion by Sept. 27.
The country can’t afford more massive spending programs and even some Democrats know it — even if that fact escapes the group of RINO Republicans who voted for it.
Still Pelosi is in a bind over this.
But it’s not just her — Biden’s Presidency is hanging in the balance already and failing to deliver for Left-wing mob who’ve still got their hands out would drive a nail in his presidency for good.
After his botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, if the spending bill now falls apart, Joe Biden will likely never recover from it as the American people will view him as a failure.
