Journalists like to present a carefully crafted image to the public.

They don’t want anyone to see how the sausage gets made.

And a video revealed one embarrassing detail an ABC News anchor never wanted made public.

ABC’s David Muir has an embarrassing wardrobe secret revealed on camera

The major network news anchor skipped reporting from the scene in North Carolina and the southeast when Hurricane Helene ravaged the area last fall.

ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir hightailed to Los Angeles, California, home of celebrities and Hollywood, to report on the outbreak of deadly wildfires.

Muir gave an update in front of a Los Angeles home that was burnt to the ground when viewers noticed something about the ABC News branded firefighter jacket he was wearing.

When he turned his back to the camera it revealed that he had clothespins on the back to make it appear more form-fitted.

Muir with his makeup and well-coiffed hair couldn’t stand the thought of speaking to the nation in a baggy jacket during a natural disaster.

Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly blasted Muir for his “abject vanity” for putting clothespins on his jacket on her SiriusXM show.

“Ladies and gentlemen, he’s, first of all, wearing a fake fireman’s jacket, and what you’re seeing on the close-up as he turns to reference the scene behind him and shows us his back, which clearly he wasn’t anticipating would make it on cam, his clothes pins pulling his jacket in — cinching it, if you will, my ladies — so that his waist looks morse svelte on camera,” Kelly declared.

Kelly was flabbergasted by Muir’s fashion stunt.

“The abject vanity of this man,” Kelly stated.

She mocked him for being a child playing “dress up” to report on the Los Angeles wildfires.

“Why is he pretending to be a fireman?” Kelly asked. “This is not dress up time. That’s something that my little boys did when they were still in the single digits. They would put on the fun fireman’s jacket and pretend to be firemen.”

She argued that such vanity was beneath a network news anchor reporting on a natural disaster that has claimed lives.

“That is not something that the host of World News Tonight for ABC News broadcast network should be doing live from a disaster scene,” Kelly explained. “It’s not dress up time, my friend, I’m big on the costume nights. We do it at home with my children when we’re on vacation, not on the news when people are dying. What are you doing?”

Kelly pointed out that the firefighter jacket was supposed to convey danger to the viewer but noted Muir was surrounded by an ABC News crew.

“And there’s no need to put David Muir in a yellow jacket with the fireman’s reflective stripes on it,” Kelly explained. “He’s surrounded by ABC News crews, by ABC News trucks, by ABC News photogs, producers, lighting, sound guys. You can’t see them. They don’t put them on camera. But trust me, there is a semi-circle on the other side of David Muir. That is probably a couple dozen in number, and they want us to look, ‘Well, he’s going to get run over by a car.’ No, he’s not. It’s for show. He’s an actor on screen.”

She accused him of being overly concerned about his image and being self-absorbed.

“Yes, he’s an actor who’s worried about his own vanity and beauty on camera,” Kelly stated. “God forbid you think David Muir might be a little boxy in the waist.”

The news presents viewers with a carefully crafted image like a TV show or a movie.
