Chuck Schumer is nervous.
He’s facing a major problem that could destroy the Democrat Party.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just made one major demand that sent Chuck Schumer off the rails.
During the first year of Biden’s Presidency, Chuck Schumer’s legislative strategy was simply to keep the Left satisfied and happy.
The reason Schumer took this approach was because he wanted to ward off a potential Primary challenge from Ocasio-Cortez this year.
But that turned into a double-edged sword, as Ocasio-Cortez is demanding that Schumer put swing-state Democrat Senators like Arizona’s Kyrsten Sinema in uncomfortable positions due to the fact that she won’t support blowing up the legislative filibuster to ram through trillions in new socialist spending.
After a report claimed that Sinema requested more structure and organization in Senate votes from Schumer, Ocasio-Cortez demanded that he “make their lives as difficult as possible.”
“Actually he should continue to make their lives as difficult as possible and treat them the way they treat, say, public housing residents. Or parents who rely on CTC. When they improve, maybe the process can improve too. Why should we make the lives of obstructionists easier?” Ocasio-Cortez declared.
Ocasio-Cortez also ripped Sinema for bringing in campaign cash from big money donors after her grassroots fundraising dried up.
“Cancel vacation. Vote on weekends. Vote for hours. Vote last minute. Call votes when Senators are courting billionaires at fundraisers. They may get apoplectic, but it’s nothing compared to the people they’re forcing to sleep without heat in winter, or losing the right to vote,” Ocasio-Cortez ranted.
Sinema raised an impressive $1.5 million last quarter.
However, 98% of that came from contributions of more than $200, which is a sign that the grassroots, small-dollar base now despises Sinema.
Should Ocasio-Cortez get her wish and a socialist like Ruben Gallego defeats Sinema in a Primary, the Democrat Party will be in major trouble.
If Democrats somehow maintain control of the Senate after November, a socialist candidate like Gallego would likely lose the seat in a General Election and thus cost the Democrats the majority.
But if Republicans take back the Senate in November, a socialist like Gallego would all but ruin their shot of taking back the Senate in 2024.
No matter how it turns out, Ocasio-Cortez is creating a potential disaster for Chuck Schumer and the Democrats.
