Freedom-loving Americans are up in arms after Joe Biden issued a mandate to permanently control Americans’ ability to drive.
And they’re reeling when they discover who helped him do it.
Back in 2021, President Joe Biden signed Democrats’ so-called “Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act” – which actually spent the overwhelming majority of the billions of tax dollars allocated to it on woke special interests rather than actual infrastructure, like roads, bridges, and the like – into law.
Democrats and their media allies have lauded the legislation as a cornerstone of Biden’s legacy, but of course, they also failed to actually tell Americans what was contained within its thousands of pages.
Buried deep within the legislation’s thousands of pages of text is a small provision that mandates “drunk and impaired driving prevention technology” be installed in every new vehicle produced beginning in 2026.
The legislation orders the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to unilaterally implement government regulations that require all new cars to feature technology that “passively monitors the performance of a driver,” determines whether or not they are impaired, and “if an impairment is detected,” proceeds to limit or outright shut down the vehicle entirely.
Effectively, it’s a government-controlled kill-switch that will allow the ruling class elites to unilaterally decide whether the working class is allowed to operate their vehicles or not.
Of course, when this fact was originally brought to light by concerned Americans on social media earlier this year, USA Today and other Democrat media allies proceeded to claim “the bill does not direct a kill-switch to be implemented in cars,” only to fully admit “the bill in question directs a federal agency to require technology that would detect driver impairment and disable the vehicle in that scenario” in literally the next sentence of their “fact-check.”
Nevertheless, no matter the reason the government wants to install a kill-switch on every working class Americans’ vehicle, it is undoubtedly a massive violation of Americans’ natural rights as enshrined in the Constitution.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has been the lone Member of Congress willing to take a stand against it.
“My amendment is simple,” Massie said on the floor of the House as he introduced an amendment to defund the “kill-switch” mandate. “It will defund the federal mandate that requires all new vehicles after 2026 to be equipped with a kill-switch that can disable a vehicle if the vehicle has monitored the driver’s performance, and the vehicle determines that the driver is not performing well.”
Massie went on to explain just how ridiculous and intrusive such a mandated device would be on law-abiding Americans by illustrating a few examples of how this technology could make matters far worse.
“Now, the question is, how much time do you have once your dashboard tells you that it doesn’t approve of your driving?” Massie asked. “What if you’re a single mother, and you’re out in bad weather, and you’re trying to avoid some obstacles? Ice, perhaps. And you’ve swerved three times, and your dashboard says swerve one more time, and you’re going to be put over to the side of the road, that you’ll have 100 yards to park this vehicle in the middle of nowhere with your children in the backseat.’”
“This isn’t some fantastical scenario,” he continued. “This is what will happen if this implemented – and this is the law, I have read it to you here. Now, you maybe should have read it two years ago when you all voted for it on [the Democrat] side of the aisle. But it was in a bill that was 1,039-pages long. So I can understand how you don’t know what the law has in it, but I’ve read it to you.”
While Massie is right to chastise Democrats for not knowing what the more than one thousand page bills they pass actually say, it’s important to note that some 19 Senate Republicans, including RINO Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and RINO Senators Mitt Romney (R-UT), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and 13 House Republicans, including disgraced former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) and RINO Reps. Fred Upton (R-MI) and Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), also voted for the infrastructure bill that included the kill-switch mandate.
Democrats, and ruling class RINOs, want nothing more than to control every aspect of the American people’s lives.
Make no mistake about it, while they claim this is about “stopping drunk driving” now, they will inevitably claim the supposed “climate emergency” necessitates using the kill-switch to limit Americans’ driving in the name of environmental extremism.
But they won’t just stop there either, and will happily use the kill-switch for their next COVID or whatever other “emergency” they can exploit to further control the American people and chip away at their God-given natural rights.
And while this should be an issue that has every Republican who has ever claimed to support the Constitution up in arms, Thomas Massie is the lone Member of Congress fighting for Americans’ rights.
