Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg can’t seem to stay out of the limelight.
But the light is not being very kind to the George Soros-backed prosecutor.
Because Alvin Bragg just received the bad news that will change everything in this important case.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is under increased scrutiny over his politically-charged prosecutions.
While violent repeat offenders are free to walk the streets, Bragg is going after anyone who doesn’t fit in with the radical left-wing prosecutor’s goals.
Most recently, Bragg joined the woke lynch mob led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and charged 24-year-old Marine Daniel Penny with second degree manslaughter.
Penny, of course, was the man who was involved in the much publicized death of the violent and mentally-ill homeless man Jordan Neely on a New York subway.
Penny argued he acted in self-defense after Neely – who police have arrested over 40 times and who has a history of beating women and other violent crimes – terrorized passengers on the subway.
And witnesses, and his fellow passengers, agree with Penny’s claims of self-defense.
But that didn’t stop AOC and other social justice warriors from latching on to this case.
Most legal experts believe it is simply because Penny is white and Neely was black.
But in an interview with the New York Post, the calm and likeable Penny destroyed the false notion that race had anything to do with this incident.
“This had nothing to do with race,” Penny began.
“I judge a person based on their character. I’m not a white supremacist,” Penny added.
Penny’s lawyer Thomas Kenniff laid out the facts of the case and said eyewitnesses from the subway car would back up Penny’s version of events.
The facts will show that Neely terrorized other passengers and Penny merely acted to defend them by restraining Neely.
“I can tell you that the threats, the menacing, the terror that Jordan Neely introduced to that train has already been well documented. I don’t think it’s going to even be controverted. There are numerous witnesses from all different walks of life who have absolutely no motive to do anything other than to recount what actually happened. They are uniform in their recollection of events,” Kenniff told the Post.
Penny also explained to the Post that he joined the Marine Corps after growing up in the community of firefighters and first responders which was affected by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
In the Marines, Penny rose to the rank of Sergeant and he has explained what he loved most was helping and protecting other people.
“I loved leading Marines and I love being around Marines,” Penny also told the Post. “I love helping people.”
Alvin Bragg doesn’t care about any of this.
And Bragg’s decision to prosecute Penny and charge him with second degree manslaughter is a shameful act that clearly shows the corruption and politicization of the Manhattan DA’s office.
Bragg may soon find out the hard way that the facts of the case, Penny’s character, and the witnesses to the events on the subway, are all going to make it difficult for the Soros lackey to win a conviction.
Soros had better rethink his backing of Bragg.
Then again, juries in New York City have become known for miscarriages of justice of late.
