Former Manhattan special District Attorney Mark Pomerantz resigned in protest when D.A. Alvin Bragg at first decided not to prosecute President Donald Trump.
Then Pomerantz wrote a book that attacked Trump as a criminal.
And many legal experts believe Pomerantz’s resignation and subsequent book helped force Bragg into indicting the former President on 34 “Trumped up” charges.
That’s why Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee wanted to put Pomerantz under oath.
And it’s why Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) did subpoena the former special assistant district attorney to compel his testimony.
Jordan, and other Republicans on the committee want to force Pomerantz to answer important questions about exactly what went into the decision to investigate Donald Trump in the first place.
Because most Americans already know at least part of the answer – politically-motivated decisions were made in order to continue the assault on Donald Trump and his supporters.
Now that Jordan has subpoenaed him, Republicans on the Committee are set to put Pomerantz under oath and compel him to answer.
And that has Alvin Bragg sweating bullets as he fears just what Pomerantz will say under oath.
Bragg has even filed a lawsuit to try and block Chairman Jordan from subpoenaing Pomerantz.
Unfortunately for the radical New York D.A., even the leftist MSNBC has had to admit Bragg’s lawsuit was completely without merit.
And Josh Gerstein, POLITICO’s legal affairs correspondent, admitted Bragg faces “an uphill battle” in his attempt to shut down Jim Jordan and the House Judiciary Committee.
The POLITICO correspondent was on MSNBC’s the Morning Joe where he expounded on the tough road ahead for Bragg.
Gerstein stated, “Republicans hope that Mark Pomerantz is their way in to this investigation, and Bragg decided to take a preemptive move going to federal court, interestingly in New York, not down here in Washington, D.C., and see if he can halt this subpoena but I do think it’s gonna be an uphill battle for Bragg.”
Katty Kay, a Morning Joe regular, agreed, noting Republicans would certainly point out the fact that Pomerantz had already published a book and gone on numerous talk shows to promote the book.
And Bragg never once attempted to stop him.
Kay went on to say Republicans will “come back and say ‘Look, hold on a second. Pomeranz has written the book. This is all out there in public, and so how can you stop him from testifying when people have already read what he has to say?’”
Gerstein then revealed Bragg is almost certainly terrified about what Pomerantz would be forced to admit under oath in front of the Judiciary Committee.
Especially what he knows about what went into the decision to even launch the investigation against Trump.
“Right, I mean, that’s the trickiest part of this, Katty. Given that Pomeranz wrote the book, it’s hard for him to sort of take the position that ‘I can’t say one word to you now, I need to zip my lip because of this current prosecution that’s going on,’” Gerstein replied.
Bragg must now also worry about his entire case against Donald Trump falling apart.
