Nancy Pelosi kept the press in the dark about her plans for the future.
But she’s started dropping hints.
Anderson Cooper was caught off guard by what Nancy Pelosi revealed about her retirement.
Back in March, Nancy Pelosi announced she was planning to seek another term in Congress in order to calm nerves among Party members concerned about the elections.
If she would have announced her retirement in March, eight months before the Midterms, it would have been viewed as conceding the elections.
But many still wondered what Pelosi would do if Republicans gained the majority in the elections.
During an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Pelosi finally shed a little light on her future plans by dropping a hint that she may call it quits.
At first, Cooper promised not to even ask Pelosi about her future plans in Congress.
“There’s obviously been a lot of discussion about whether you would retire if Democrats lose the House. I know you’re not going to answer that question, so I’m not even going to answer that question,” Cooper began.
“Good, I’m glad,” Pelosi answered.
But Anderson Cooper couldn’t resist asking Pelosi if she planned to stick around for another term or not.
“But I will ask, can you confirm that you’ve made a decision about what you would do?” Cooper followed up.
Nancy Pelosi quickly called out Cooper for going back on his word.
“Well, that’s like asking the question, isn’t it?” Pelosi fired back.
But Cooper pressed forward for some type of answer.
“I’m not asking what the decision is. I’m just asking, have you looked ahead? Have you made the decision in your mind, whatever that decision might be?” Cooper asked again.
Cooper’s persistence paid off, as Pelosi admitted the recent attack on her husband by an illegal alien nudist activist would play a role in her decision.
“Well, I have to say my decision would be affected by what happened in the last week or two,” Pelosi added.
“Will your decision be impacted by the attack in any way?” Cooper wondered.
“Yes,” Pelosi stated.
“It will?” Cooper asked just to make sure.
“Uh-huh, yes,” Pelosi confirmed.
Pelosi and all of her top lieutenants in the House are over 80 years old.
Even after her announcement back in March, few seriously believed Pelosi actually planned to stick around for another term, especially if Republicans end up in the majority.
Pelosi previously had to act like she was in for another term in order to maintain credibility as a leader and to keep Biden’s agenda alive.
But the election is now over.
And Nancy Pelosi is beginning to reveal her true plans for the future.
