Antifa is the most militant, radical, and outright violent left-wing organization in America.
And Portland has been hit the hardest out of all the cities destroyed by Antifa thugs across the country over the past few years.
But Antifa militants never expected to hear this threatening message come from the Mayor of Portland’s mouth.
Since the death of George Floyd in May of 2020, Antifa militants have rioted, looted businesses, attacked random people, and caused destruction in numerous cities and states all across the country.
Out of fear of being labeled a “racist,” Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler originally attempted to appease the Antifa thugs, welcoming them into his city with open arms while refusing President Trump’s offer to send in the National Guard to assist the Mayor in regaining control of his city.
Of course, Wheeler’s attempt to appease Antifa by allowing them to do whatever they wanted turned out to be a liberal pipe dream, with Antifa militants eventually seizing control of the entire city.
And on New Year’s Eve, Antifa militants led their most violent riot since they took over the city in May of 2020.
But apparently, Antifa went too far even for leftists like Ted Wheeler.
And this time he placed the blame directly at the feet of the Antifa thugs, where it should have been since day one.
“The who: violent Antifa and anarchists,” said Mayor Wheeler, calling out the Antifa thugs for their violent acts.
“They rampaged through downtown Portland causing tens of thousands of dollars of damage with spray painting, window breaking, fires and fireworks. ‘Why?’ This is the hardest question of all to answer,” Wheeler asked. “Why would a group of largely white, young and some middle age men destroy the livelihood of others who are struggling to get by?” he continued.
But that wasn’t all Wheeler had to say about Antifa.
“My good faith efforts at de-escalation have been met with ongoing violence and even scorn from radical antifa and anarchists,” Wheeler said, admitting that his past efforts to appease Antifa failed miserably.
“In response it will be necessary to use additional tools and to push the limits of the tools we already have to bring the criminal destruction and violence to an end,” he said before laying out three steps to stop the violence in Portland.
The first step is asking federal, state, and local law enforcement to work together to help regain control of the city, something the Mayor previously fought hard to stop.
Next, Mayor Wheeler is asking for state legislators in Oregon to massively increase the penalties for repeat offenders.
And finally, Wheeler is asking that anyone convicted of criminal destruction of property be forced, by law, to meet with the business owners of the property they destroyed and assist with cleaning up their mess as a form of public service.
Of course, if Wheeler would have taken this type of action months ago, Portland wouldn’t be the warzone that it is today.
