AOC dropped nearly $50K partying in Puerto Rico like an oligarch

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has built her entire political brand around being the champion of working-class Americans fighting against wealthy elites.

Now her campaign just got caught spending like the very oligarchs she claims to despise.

And AOC's nearly 50 thousand dollar Puerto Rico spending spree has her scrambling to explain away the hypocrisy.

Campaign filings expose luxury hotel and dining binge

Federal Election Commission filings revealed that AOC's campaign dropped nearly $50,000 in Puerto Rico between July and September on upscale hotels, expensive meals, and a mysterious $23,000 venue rental.¹

The Bronx Democrat stayed at the Hotel Palacio Provincial, which proudly advertises its "first-class, adults only" accommodations situated in an "historic early 19th century building" with "transcendent hints of the structure's grand colonial past."²

AOC's campaign shelled out $680.52 on July 28, followed by $1,507.26 on August 29, and a whopping $9,440.79 on September 29 at the colonial-era luxury property.¹

On August 25, her campaign also dropped $3,861.20 at Hotel El Convento, another 19th century property touting its "old world charm and elegance."¹

In total, AOC spent $15,489.77 on lodging alone in Puerto Rico during the third quarter.¹

Her campaign also burned through $10,743.13 on "catering" and "meals" at high-end San Juan restaurants including Cocina Abierta, Cocina al Fondo, and Verde Mesa.¹

The Bad Bunny concert connection

The spending gets even more interesting when you look at the timing.

AOC was spotted on August 10 dancing in a luxury suite at a Bad Bunny concert held at the Coliseo De Puerto Rico in San Juan.³

That same venue appears twice in her campaign filings with more than $23,000 in "venue rental" payments dated June 24 and August 25.¹

Fox News could not confirm whether those payments were related to the Bad Bunny shows, but the timing is awfully convenient.¹

NBA star LeBron James, actress Penelope Cruz, and actor Austin Butler were among the other celebrities at the anti-ICE rapper's concert that night.³

Meanwhile, videos from AOC's August Puerto Rico trip show her visiting a housing development to rail against gentrification on the island.¹

So she was staying in luxury colonial hotels that celebrate their "grand colonial past" while complaining about gentrification destroying Puerto Rico communities.

Her campaign manager, Oliver Hidalgo-Wohlleben, tried to spin the lavish spending by claiming AOC "regularly travels to Puerto Rico to support local causes and host events that require both staff and security."¹

"She is deeply proud of her investment in grassroots organizing," Hidalgo-Wohlleben added.¹

That's a creative way to describe nearly $50,000 in luxury hotels, expensive dining, and box seats at a Bad Bunny concert.

AOC's pattern of oligarch-style spending

This Puerto Rico spending spree isn't an isolated incident.

Earlier this year, AOC and Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders embarked on their "Fighting Oligarchy" tour where they lectured Americans about wealth inequality and corporate greed.⁴

While preaching against the "billionaire class," AOC's campaign spent $3,508.92 at the Vdara Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas and $3,165.76 at The Leo Kent Hotel, a boutique high-rise in Tucson.⁴

Fox News previously reported that Sanders and AOC were flying private jets to their West Coast rallies during the tour.⁴

The House Ethics Committee also found in July 2025 that AOC violated House rules by attending the 2021 Met Gala in her "Tax the Rich" dress without paying the full market value for her attire, accessories, and services.⁵

She only paid the bills months after the event when her campaign received threats from vendors and was notified of the investigation.⁵

AOC claims to fight for working families while spending campaign donations like she's living in a Hollywood mansion. She rails against gentrification while staying in colonial luxury hotels that represent everything she supposedly opposes. And she tours America attacking oligarchs while partying in box seats at Bad Bunny concerts and flying private jets with Bernie Sanders.

The hypocrisy would be stunning if it weren't so predictable. Socialist politicians always end up living large while ordinary Americans foot the bill. AOC is just following the same tired script. She's become exactly what she claims to fight against.
