The scandalous meeting took place when Barack and Michelle Obama visited the White House for the first time in five years to attend the unveiling of their official portraits.
During the ceremony Obama proved the truth behind rumors that the former president has zero respect for Biden.
Stunningly he did it by indicating that he’ll never view Biden as his superior—no matter the office he holds.
“Then Obama opened his remarks by saying, ‘Thank you, Vice President Biden,’” The Washington Post explained. “President Biden laughed and saluted, and Obama walked away from the podium and gave Biden a hug, vowing he was just making a joke. ‘That was all set up,’ he said. For some longtime Biden staffers, the zinger punctured the celebratory mood.”
Obama’s “joke” infuriated Biden staffers who want to pretend their boss isn’t something akin to his rambling, incompetent uncle—no matter how much that rings true.
“They saw the quip, intentional or not, as part of a pattern of arrogance from Obama and a reminder of the disrespect many felt from Obama’s cadre of aides toward Biden,” The Post added.
By making him his Vice-President, Obama basically hand-picked Biden as his heir apparent—a move he’s since regretted.
In fact, Obama didn’t even want Biden to run for President in 2020 and even went out of his way to tell Biden he didn’t have to run—according to Washington, D.C. rumors.
He then made the rounds secretly warning Biden has an incredible ability to screw things up.
“Beneath that jovial atmosphere, however, is long-simmering tension, and even some jealousy, between the circles around Obama and Biden.” The Post reported. “Some Biden loyalists are resentful that Obama didn’t throw his weight behind Biden’s presidential aspirations, complaining that even now Obama’s team does not fully respect Biden.”
The D.C. paper also noted that Obama’s former aides are “frustrated that Biden’s aides regularly boast of how they have avoided the mistakes of the Obama White House, such as failing to sufficiently tout the president’s accomplishments.”
Barack Obama worked with Joe Biden for eight years—and in the end he refused to endorse Joe Biden’s campaign until every other Democrat had disappeared from the field.
