Unlike past presidents, former President Barack Obama refuses to retire from public life.
After seeing his legacy unravel, he’s now made it his mission to take down the President.
And in a recent podcast, Barack Obama told a bald-faced lie he hopes will defeat President Trump in November.
It’s been said “A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on.”
With less than 75 days until the November elections, that’s just what Barack Obama is counting on.
Recently on David Plouffe’s podcast, Obama poured gasoline on a wild Internet conspiracy theory that President Trump is sabotaging the Postal Service by removing mailboxes to tamper with the election and undermine mail-in voting.
“What we’ve seen in a way that is unique to modern political history is a president who is explicit in trying to discourage people from voting,” Obama claimed. “What we’ve never seen before is a president say, ‘I’m going to try to actively kneecap the postal service to encourage voting and I will be explicit about the reason I’m doing it.’”
“That’s sort of unheard of,” Obama added.
There’s only one problem with that.
Removing and retiring mailboxes is routine in the US Postal Service, and has been since the 1980s.
USPS spokeswoman Katie Frum told The Hill that it’s actually a cost saving measure for the Postal Service to remove mailboxes in areas with low volume.
“Historically, mailboxes have been removed for lack of use and installed in growth areas,” Frum said. “Relocating low-use boxes to high traffic areas such as shopping centers, business parks, grocery stores, etc. for increased customer convenience.”
“When a collection box consistently receives very small amounts of mail for months on end, it costs the Postal Service money in fuel and work hours for letter carriers to drive to the mailbox and collect the mail,” she continued. “Removing the box is simply good business sense in that respect. It is important to note that anyone with a residential or business mailbox can use it as a vehicle to send outgoing mail,” Frum continued.
In fact, from 2011 to 2016 – while Barack Obama was President – the US Postal Service removed 14,000 mailboxes from service.
The truth is, since 1989, more than 200,000 mailboxes have been removed.
But Obama and Democrats want to spread this conspiracy theory that Trump is up to something nefarious for multiple reasons.
One, it to energize their voters who clearly aren’t inspired to go out and vote for Biden.
And two, just like the way they setup the Russia collusion hoax as an “insurance policy” in 2016, they see this as a way to delegitimize Trump’s re-election if he defeats Biden in November.
