The famed pediatric neurosurgeon grew up impoverished in Detroit during the civil rights era.
He not only overcame humble beginnings, but also became a world-renowned neurosurgeon who pioneered his field with a focus on developing breakthroughs in pediatric neurosurgery.
Back in 1984 Dr. Carson became the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital.
Only 33 years old at the time, he made history by becoming the youngest chief of pediatric neurosurgery in the United States.
By the time he retired 29 years later he was a professor of neurosurgery, oncology, pediatrics, and plastic surgery for Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
One of Carson’s most famous medical achievements was the first known separation of conjoined twins who were joined at the back of the head.
He also performed the first successful neurosurgical procedure on a baby still in the womb.
Incredibly, his list of accomplishments also include developing new ways to treat brain-stem tumors and ways to control seizures.
As if that wasn’t enough, he also penned more than 100 neurosurgical publications.
Naturally, with that kind of talent, dedication, and skill Dr. Carson has received numerous honors for his work in neurosurgery.
He has received more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees.
Even the leftists over at CNN and TIME Magazine had to tip their hats to the brilliant conservative, recognizing him as one of the nation’s top 20 physicians and scientists.
The Library of Congress listed him as one of 89 “Living Legends.”
In 2009 Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story debuted and had a hand in writing or co-writing 6 bestselling books.
After retiring from medicine, Dr. Carson turned his attention to fixing what’s happening in this country.
Carson was a serious candidate running in 2016, but withdrew after Super Tuesday to support Donald Trump’s effort.
President Trump later made him the 17th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
Conservatives first started rallying around Carson after he dismantled Barack Obama’s policies back in 2013.
To this day he’s still promoting freedom as our nation’s way forward.
He holds to the view that self-empowerment is the best way for Black Americans — and all Americans — to find success in life.
During his time as a Trump cabinet member he had more than enough work cut out trying to untangle the mess Barack Obama managed to create over a period of eight years.
Now with “woke” culture threatening to unravel the very fabric of America, Carson has written a new book dealing with how he believes discussions about race should play out.
In Created Equal: The Painful Past, Confusing Present, and Hopeful Future of Race in America, Carson tears apart Critical Race Theory (CRT) pointing out that those who view every white American as systemically racist are “ludicrous.”
And in one especially damning passage, Carson takes aim at the Left, showing how their dirty approach hurts the people they always claim to be helping.
“Cancel culture and Jim Crow racism have much in common. The aim of both is to disenfranchise and control the targeted group,” Carson wrote. “Neither should be acceptable in the land of the free.”
He also sounded off on The Recast saying that, “Cancel culture is there exactly to attempt to intimidate people to keep people from being who they are, for saying what they believe, for acting in certain ways. It is antithetical to the whole concept of freedom.”
