Brandon Gill Machine-Gunned Democrat Witness With Somali Welfare Stats That Left Him With Zero Way Out

The Minnesota fraud scandal has exposed billions in taxpayer theft.

Democrats spent years covering for the criminals who looted social programs meant for vulnerable Americans.

And Brandon Gill machine-gunned a Democrat witness with Somali welfare stats that left him with zero way out.

Texas Congressman Dominates Minnesota Fraud Hearing

The House Oversight Committee opened its investigation into Minnesota's $9 billion fraud scandal Wednesday with testimony from state lawmakers and federal prosecutors.

But 31-year-old Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) stole the show with a line of questioning that turned into the hearing's most viral moment.

Gill went straight for the throat when former Justice Department prosecutor Brendan Ballou, testifying as the Democrats' witness, claimed that large-scale Somali immigration made Minnesota "certainly stronger."

"Do you know what percentage of Somali-headed households in Minnesota are on food stamps?" Gill asked.

Ballou admitted he didn't know.

"54%," Gill stated. "Do you know what that number is for native Minnesota-headed households?"

Ballou tried to dodge but Gill cut him off.

"It's 7%," Gill said. "There's a big difference between 54% and 7%, no?"

The Texas Congressman wasn't done.

"Do you know what percentage of Somali-headed households in Minnesota are on Medicaid?" Gill continued.

The answer: 73% of Somali households versus just a fraction of native Minnesotans.

"What percentage of Somali-headed households in Minnesota are on welfare in general?" Gill pressed.

Ballou had no answer.

"It's 81%," Gill revealed. "After ten years of being in the United States, what percentage of Somali immigrant households continue to be on welfare? The number is 78%."

Gill hammered the point home: "What percentage of working-age Somalis who have been in the U.S. for ten years or more speak English very well? The answer is about half."

"It doesn't sound like something that makes our country stronger to me," Gill concluded. "And I think most Americans would agree with me on that."

The exchange went viral within hours with millions of views across social media platforms.

Minnesota Republicans Testify Democrats Ignored Fraud For Political Gain

Chairman James Comer (R-KY) emphasized the scale of the theft during his opening statement.

"Federal prosecutors estimate these criminals have stolen at least $9 billion," Comer said. "The breadth and depth of this fraud is breathtaking."

Money meant to feed hungry children, provide services to autistic kids, house disabled Americans, and fund Medicaid for vulnerable patients instead paid for luxury homes, flashy cars, and lavish vacations.

According to Comer, 85 of the 98 people federally charged are of Somali descent.

And state officials knew it was happening but did nothing.

Minnesota state Rep. Walter Hudson, a Republican, testified that Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison protected the fraud for votes.

Gill asked Hudson directly whether Democrats had a political incentive to ignore the fraud.

"Would you say the Somali population is an important demographic for Democrats to win over politically?" Gill questioned.

"Unquestionably," Hudson answered.

"Do you think it would have hurt Democrats' political standing with the Somali population to investigate this fraud?" Gill pressed.

Hudson agreed there was absolutely a political incentive for Democrats to cover up widespread Somali fraud.

State Rep. Kristin Robbins testified that whistleblowers who tried to expose the fraud faced retaliation from the Walz administration.

"When people recognized that the system wasn't working and they raised those concerns, those concerns were ignored," Hudson explained. "A culture suppressing raising those concerns was fostered by the Walz administration."

Some of the stolen money allegedly made its way to al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist organization in Somalia.

Democrats Scream Racism As Republicans Demand Accountability

Democrat Ranking Member Robert Garcia (D-CA) and Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) spent the hearing accusing Republicans of racism rather than addressing the $9 billion theft.

Rep. Kweisi Mfume (D-MD) compared questioning witnesses about Somali fraud to asking "What is your opinion of Jews? What is your opinion of Black people?"

Democrats complained that Trump's freeze on funding to five Democrat-run states would hurt vulnerable populations.

But the fraud already hurt those vulnerable populations by diverting billions away from the people who actually needed help.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) announced she was referring both Walz and Ellison to the Department of Justice for criminal charges based on the testimony.

Comer said he would subpoena Walz and Ellison if they don't voluntarily appear at the committee's February 10 hearing.

Brandon Gill is the youngest Republican in Congress and married to Danielle D'Souza, daughter of conservative filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza.

He founded the conservative DC Enquirer before running for Congress with Trump's endorsement.

Gill won his first election by more than 50% and immediately joined the House Freedom Caucus.

His rapid-fire questioning style has already made him one of the most effective interrogators in Congress after less than a year in office.

The Minnesota fraud investigation continues with more hearings scheduled as Republicans work to expose how Democrats allowed billions in taxpayer money to disappear while protecting the criminals who stole it.
