One of Donald Trump’s biggest achievements was appointing three new Justices to the Supreme Court during his four years in office, giving conservatives a 6-3 majority on the Court.
Democrats are furiously working to find a way to take this accomplishment away from Donald Trump.
And Brett Kavanaugh should be infuriated by the letter Nancy Pelosi just sent to Joe Biden.
The eviction moratorium that had been imposed at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic expired on Saturday.
Last September, the CDC extended the program by claiming it was part of its public health powers.
But Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh handed down a ruling last month calling the CDC’s extension of the moratorium unconstitutional.
Not only that, but he also ruled that only Congress could extend the moratorium after the July 31 expiration.
However, Nancy Pelosi failed to gather the 218 votes needed in the House of Representatives for an extension before members of Congress left town for a six-week August recess.
So Pelosi scrambled to get Joe Biden to cover up for her failure by sending him a letter demanding that the administration unilaterally extend the eviction moratorium.
After Pelosi and congressional Democrats refused to take action, they wrote, “Action is needed, and it must come from the Administration.”
“That is why House leadership is calling on the Administration to immediately extend the moratorium,” the statement continued.
Of course, since there is no constitutional authority for the President to extend the moratorium, the Democrats instead played the pandemic card.
“As the CDC doubles down on mask-wearing and vaccination efforts, science and reason demand that they must also extend the moratorium in light of the delta variant,” the Democrats added.
Democrats are also asking Biden to lean on state and local governments to bail out renters, using taxpayer dollars, as well as unilaterally extend the eviction moratorium.
“The virus is still a threat. The moratorium must be extended, and the funds Congress allocated to assist renters and landlords must be spent,” Pelosi and her allies wrote. “An extension of the moratorium is based on public health and the delta variant. It will also give more time to allow the money that Congress allocated to finally flow.”
“We call upon the Treasury Department to indicate how the funds that it has already transferred to states and communities can be more effectively distributed to renters and landlords,” the Democrats declared.
Nancy Pelosi’s statement completely ignored Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court ruling.
Now, with the Biden administration moving to implement the extension, Democrats are in open rebellion against the Supreme Court and direct defiance of the Constitution.
