For generations, professional sports have provided an escape from the sometimes difficult realities of the day.
But as more professional leagues like the NBA, MLB, and NFL all move to embrace “woke” social justice politics, many Americans feel alienated as their favorite sports are picking political sides against them.
But the last straw for these fans may be that Christian football players have found themselves in the crosshairs of this new NFL directive.
For Christian football players looking to attend an indoor church service with their family, they better check the regulations first.
A new rule by the NFL bans players from attending church services that allow attendance over 25 percent capacity.
According to reports, players can be fined if they break the new rule.
Any player who happens to contract the coronavirus and is found to have ignored the anti-church rule – even if it can’t be proven he contracted the virus at church – will miss game checks and future contract guarantees will be voided.
But based on preliminary reports, the same standard won’t be held for those players who attend Black Lives Matter “protests.”
Over the past few weeks, several players have marched in massive “protests” including Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills, who has been a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Stills was arrested earlier this year and charged with a felony for intimidation and a misdemeanor for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass during a “mostly peaceful protest” in Louisville this summer.
The local county attorney Mike O’Connell, a Democrat, dropped the charges on Stills.
O’Connell declared that although he believed the Louisville police had probable cause for the charges “in the interest of justice and the promotion of free exchange of ideas, we will dismiss that charge for each protester arrested.”
The double-standard is appalling.
While the NFL continues to kowtow to its radical social justice warrior players, they’re cracking down on those who live out traditional American values of faith and family.
