Joe Biden spent four years throwing billions of taxpayer dollars at nearly every radical project of the Left’s agenda.
Those projects are now dead in the water.
And a classified Pentagon report just torpedoed exposed a national security nightmare that should terrify every American living on the East Coast.
Pentagon Report Just Torpedoed Biden's Billion-Dollar Wind Farm Fantasy
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum dropped the hammer Monday morning, announcing the immediate suspension of five massive offshore wind projects along the East Coast.
The reason? Classified reports from the Department of War that Burgum says "conclusively" prove these giant turbines create "legitimate" national security risks for the United States.¹
"Due to national security concerns identified by @DeptofWar, @Interior is PAUSING leases for 5 expensive, unreliable, heavily subsidized offshore wind farms!" Burgum announced on X.²
The suspended projects include GE Vernova's Vineyard Wind 1, Danish energy firm Orsted's Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind, Dominion Energy's Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind-Commercial, and Equinor's Empire Wind 1.³
Every single one sits dangerously close to major East Coast population centers.
The problem is something called radar "clutter." When those enormous spinning blades rotate past highly reflective towers, they scramble radar signals. Defense systems can't tell the difference between real threats and phantom targets. A 2024 Department of Energy report admitted that when you try to filter out the interference, your radar can "miss actual targets."⁴
In other words, Biden's green energy vanity project could literally blind our coastal defenses to incoming threats.
Biden Threw Nearly a Trillion Dollars at This Disaster
This wasn't some small-scale pilot program. Critics estimate Biden's Inflation Reduction Act earmarked between $781 billion and $1 trillion in taxpayer subsidies for wind and other renewable energy companies.⁵
The administration held six offshore wind lease auctions since 2022, including a record-breaking sale offshore New York and first-ever sales off the Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, and Gulf of Maine coasts.⁶
Biden officials celebrated every permit approval as "Bidenomics in action." They promised 30 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030 that would power 10 million homes and create tens of thousands of jobs.⁷
But the industry was collapsing even before Trump took action. Project delays cost Equinor a staggering $763 million impairment on Empire Wind 1 alone. Stop-work costs were running up to $50 million per week.⁸
A November report from the Energy Industries Council showed the offshore wind pipeline had been slashed by more than half in just one year, dropping from 45 projects to 23.⁹
Biden kept shoveling taxpayer money into a burning pit while the whole thing fell apart around him.
Federal Judge Already Tried to Save Biden's Wind Farms
This announcement comes just two weeks after a federal judge in Boston struck down Trump's earlier executive order blocking wind energy projects.¹⁰
Judge Patti Saris called Trump's January 20 directive "arbitrary and capricious" and vacated the order. The administration had to find another path.
They found one. You can't argue with classified Pentagon intelligence showing your pet green energy project is creating holes in America's coastal radar coverage.
"The prime duty of the United States government is to protect the American people," Burgum stated. "Today's action addresses emerging national security risks, including the rapid evolution of the relevant adversary technologies, and the vulnerabilities created by large-scale offshore wind projects with proximity near our east coast population centers."¹¹
The timing here matters. Burgum pointed out that ONE natural gas pipeline supplies as much energy as all five of these suspended projects combined. America doesn't need unreliable windmills that blind our defenses. We need pipelines that actually deliver power when people need it.
Democrats spent years calling anyone who questioned offshore wind a climate denier or conspiracy theorist. They dismissed concerns about whale deaths, fishermen's livelihoods, and skyrocketing electricity prices.
But they can't dismiss the Pentagon. And they can't explain why they were so eager to spend a trillion dollars on projects that compromise national security.
President Trump promised to bring common sense back to energy policy. He's delivering. Biden's offshore wind fantasy is officially over, and Americans are safer for it.
