Americans are desperate to return to their normal lives.
But COVID-19 politicians and officials are determined to drag out the pandemic as long as possible.
And one Democrat governor embarrassed himself with one shocking lockdown statement.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott made the announcement that he was fully reopening his state and getting rid of state mask mandates.
Unsurprisingly, the Left went hysterical, but one baffling critic was California governor Gavin Newsom.
Absolutely reckless. https://t.co/3O5GsbSLpM

Newsom has a lot of nerve criticizing Abbott when he violated his own COVID-19 lockdown orders on two separate occasions, once to dine at a posh restaurant called the French Laundry.
Newsom also came under fire for appearing in a PSA with actor George Lopez in a restaurant that’s supposed to be closed due to indoor dining.
Whether or not the two dined inside, it’s still bad optics.
Newsom has become the poster child for elite Democrat hypocrisy.
These are just some of the reasons Newsom is facing a significant recall effort.
Nearly 2 million frustrated Californians have signed the recall petition, which would put his political future in serious jeopardy.
Ironically, California state officials are discarding thousands of signatures when Democrats crowed at calls for election integrity in the 2020 presidential race.
Despite having some of the most stringent lockdown protocols and the fifth youngest population in the country, California has virtually the same results as Texas in terms of COVID deaths per million.
Newsom has also rolled over the Stalinist teachers’ unions that refuse to go back to work despite mountains of scientific data saying it’s safe to reopen the schools.
A Berkeley teachers’ union boss even got caught dropping off his daughter at in-person learning while he advocated for continued lockdowns.
Florida has been open for months and has the second oldest population in the country (only behind Maine, a far less populous state) and they’ve handled COVID far better than most states.
At this point it’s not debatable that Democrats are living by a “rules for thee but not for me” double standard.
