Virtually every crooked thing Democrats accuse Republicans of doing is already being worked hard by the Left.
Now, one Democrat trying to snag a US Senate seat is facing scrutiny over his campaign contributions.
And he just got outed as the fox guarding the chicken coop.
A Democrat Congressman running for a US Senate seat in Ohio has been attacking his Republican opponent by basically accusing him of causing drug addicts to die because his non-profit, Our Ohio Renewal, accepted funding from pharmaceutical companies.
But in an ironic twist, it turns out that Representative Tim Ryan has accepted donations amounting to $27,000 over the years from drug distribution companies at the center of the opioid crisis.
AmerisourceBergen, McKesson and Dublin, and Cardinal Health have agreed to pay out a $21 billion settlement over their role in the opioid crisis.
Vance, who is the author of Hillbilly Elgy has a personal stake in the drug addiction crisis—in spite of the fact that his political opponent is busy painting him as going through all the trouble of creating a non-profit with evil intentions.
“Tim Ryan has spent millions spreading lies about JD, despite the fact that JD’s own mother struggled with addiction for years,” Vance’s campaign spokesman Luke Schroeder told Fox News Digital. “All the while, Tim Ryan was taking money from the very companies responsible for the opioid epidemic, and even voted against legislation that would have delivered needed relief. This shameless hypocrisy from Tim Ryan disqualifies him from higher office.”
Vance has been backed by both former President Donald Trump and billionaire Clarium Capital Management founder Peter Thiel.
Currently there’s a 50/50 split between Republicans and Democrats in the US Senate with Kamala Harris regularly called in to cast a tie-breaking vote.
That means every single Senate race up in the air this fall could potentially push Republicans over the finish line and break the Democrats control over the entire legislative process.
Vance and Ryan are battling for retiring Republican Senator Rob Portman’s seat.
Incredibly, polls show Vance leading Ryan by more than a percentage point even though the Democrat has raised more than $21 million compared to a mere $3.6 million brought in by the Republican.
Ironically, even as Democrats try to paint Republicans heartless, money-hungry politicians, the same scenario is playing out across the nation where leftists are sinking massive amounts of money into campaigns where the Democrats still can barely keep their heads above water.
It speaks volumes to how dire the situation is for Democrats when they can raise almost six times as much money as a Republican opponent and still end up trailing in the polls.
Unfortunately, there’s still a chance Democrats will be able to use their deep pockets for a Hail Mary play in the final weeks of this election season and maintain—or even strengthen—their majority.
