One of the most atrocious outcomes of the Midterm elections was when Michigan’s fanatically pro-lockdown Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, won re-election by 12 points.
Now the woman who literally banned Americans from buying garden seeds and going fishing when store shelves were empty could have a shot at the White House.
James Carville, a top party strategist for Democrats, talked up Whitmer’s chances as a 2024 contender in an interview with MSNBC’s race baiting host, Joy Reid.
“I feel the media has overplayed the importance of [Republican Gov. Ron] DeSantis and underplayed the victory for Whitmer,” Reid argued.
“Whitmer, to me, was the biggest single individual winner on election day because… she survived real threats to democracy in her state, got reelected by a healthy margin, and took over the state,” Reid added.
Carville – the brains behind former President Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign – claims that Whitmer would be a formidable 2024 or 2028 candidate.
“First of all, for 2024, 2028, she’s already in the talk of being a very serious Presidential candidate if she runs,” Carville explained. “I think people really understand what she’s done and how tough she is.”
“I think Gretchen Whitmer is at the top of any conversation about any national figure of the Democratic Party,” he asserted. “That is just a fact.”
In making his case, Carville made two significant and strategic moves.
First, he openly entertained the idea of Gretchen Whitmer running for President in 2024.
That flies in the face of President Biden’s public claims that he is running for re-election.
Normally, members of a political party do not float the idea of running other candidates against a sitting President who plans to run again.
Clearly, Carville does not believe—or doesn’t want to believe—Joe Biden is running again in 2024.
He also completely glossed over the idea that Vice President Kamala Harris will be a viable contender for the presidency.
Traditionally, if President Biden were to choose not to run for re-election, the sitting Vice President would be a shoo-in for the job.
But with an approval rating just under 38%, Kamala Harris is so wildly unpopular no Democrat considers her a serious White House contender.
Even James Carville knows that Joe Biden is too old and senile, and Kamala Harris is too toxic to run in 2024.
Now, top Democrats are being forced to send a strong message to the failed President and Vice President by openly discussing moving past them in 2024.
