Rashida Tlaib is one of the members of the socialist “Squad” that came into Congress in 2018 and faced immediate controversies.
The latest controversy follows the far-left Democrat making statements that forced a rebuke from members of her own party.
22 Democrats joined 212 House Republicans in censuring Tlaib over her recent pro-Hamas remarks and her usage and commentary about the chant “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
The chant suggests that the land from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea will be returned to pre-1948 borders, which essentially means the elimination of the state of Israel.
Tlaib, a Palestinian American, wrote on Twitter, “‘From the river to the sea’ is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity.”
But many did not accept her explanation.
Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) responded, “I think Tlaib said from the river to the sea doesn’t mean wiping out Israel. Well, that’s what it means. You can piss on my leg, but don’t tell me it’s rain.”
Tlaib’s cause is not helped by the fact that Hamas, the governing authority in Gaza, wrote in its constitution, “Hamas rejects any alternative to the full and complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea.”
Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) also responded to Tlaib and said, “The phrase ‘from the river to the sea’ is one of division & violence, & it is counterproductive to promoting peace. None of us, especially elected leaders, should amplify language that inflames a tense situation & makes it harder for our communities to find common ground.”
Former Georgetown professor Asra Nomani, who has fought to keep “woke” propaganda books out of public schools, also criticized Tlaib.
Good on the US House and particularly House Dems for censuring Rashida Tlaib.
She knows the chant:
“Min il-maya lal maya, Falasteen ARABIYE.”
“From the river to the sea, Palestine is ARAB.”

Many on the hard left did come to Tlaib’s defense, however.
MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan wrote, “10,000-plus Palestinians killed, including 4,000-plus kids, and the U.S. House of Representatives is busy censuring… the only Palestinian-American member. Can’t make this stuff up.”
Another problem for Tlaib and the people who support her was the reaction from the Left to the horrific attacks committed by Hamas against innocent Israeli civilians.
Public figures quite literally cheered the despicable murder, rape, and kidnapping of Israelis.
But perhaps the biggest slap in the face came when Tlaib was exposed for her reported membership in a secret facebook group which praised Hamas even after the October 7 attacks.
“Rashida Tlaib appears to be part of a group that has glorified the horrific October 7th terrorist attacks on Israel,” Tennessee Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn wrote on X. “These associations by sitting members of Congress continue to elevate concern.”

Fox News reported on Tlaib’s membership in the Palestinian American Congress group on Facebook saying Tlaib has quietly been a member since 2018.
What’s more, she has previously been active in the group whose founder Maher Abdel-qader has been called out for antisemitic social media posts, Fox reported.
