Ron DeSantis is a fighter.
He refuses to back down from left-wing media smears or woke corporations.
And Disney just made one huge announcement that shows why picking a fight with Ron DeSantis was a bad idea.
After just three months of serving as the Chief Corporate Affairs Office of the Walt Disney Corporation, Geoff Morrell just offered his resignation.
“After three months in this new role, it has become clear to me that for a number of reasons it is not the right fit,” Morrell wrote in a letter announcing his resignation. “After talking this over with [Disney CEO] Bob [Chapek], I have decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities.”
Morrell was behind Disney’s attempt to stop DeSantis from signing the Parental Rights in Education Bill into law.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced Kristina Schake would take Morrell’s place.
“Kristina has a strategic approach and collaborative style, as well as relentless optimism and a strong appreciation of our brand and its place in the world,” Chapek wrote in an email to staffers. “These attributes will be invaluable as she works to protect and enhance our reputation.”
When the Florida legislature first introduced the Parental Rights in Education Bill, Bob Chapek put out a statement saying that Disney was planning to stay out of the fight.
“Corporate statements do very little to change outcomes or minds,” Chapek wrote. “Instead, they are often weaponized by one side or the other to further divide and inflame.”
After an avalanche of criticism from the left-wing media, including the phony narrative that this was the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, Disney reversed course and released another statement calling on Ron DeSantis to oppose the legislation and stop it from becoming law.
Instead, DeSantis not only signed the bill into law, but he also called on the legislature to remove Disney’s special tax privileges and revoke its self-governing status.
After DeSantis signed the legislation repealing Disney’s special privileges, Morrell resigned as the scapegoat for this debacle.
Ron DeSantis stood up to woke corporations.
And he won.
