The Biden-Harris administration left American families drowning in the worst inflation crisis in 40 years.
Now Trump's starting to turn things around.
And Donald Trump delivered one Thanksgiving surprise that proved he was right about everything.
Trump delivers relief after Biden's inflation disaster
President Donald Trump released data showing Thanksgiving dinner will cost 3% less this year than last year, with prices dropping across the board for holiday staples.¹
Turkey prices fell 6%.²
Dinner rolls plummeted 22%.³
Frozen vegetables dropped 15%.⁴
Walmart's Thanksgiving meal for 10 people costs 25% less than Biden's final year, coming in at just under $4 per person.⁵
Target's offering its lowest price ever for a Thanksgiving meal.⁶
Aldi and Lidl are competing with deals under $40 for a complete feast.⁷
Trump promised to crush inflation and lower prices.
He's delivering.
But here's what the fake news media won't tell you about why this matters so much.
The Swamp's spending spree created the worst crisis in decades
The damage Biden and his Washington cronies inflicted on American families was catastrophic.
Grocery prices exploded 21% during Biden's time in office.⁸
The Senate Committee on Agriculture documented exactly how it happened – Biden's American Rescue Plan and the grotesquely misnamed Inflation Reduction Act pumped trillions of dollars into an economy already recovering from COVID.⁹
That reckless spending spree overheated consumer demand while supply chains were still disrupted.
Classic Washington – throw money at a problem and make it worse.
American families paid the price in the checkout line.
Eggs jumped 85% under Biden.¹⁰
Butter increased 29%.¹¹
Milk climbed 14%.¹²
The American Farm Bureau Federation found that despite this year's improvements, families are still paying 19% more for Thanksgiving dinner than they did in 2019 before the Swamp unleashed its spending binge.¹³
Congressional Republicans calculated the damage – American households spent an extra $2,900 on food cumulatively under Biden compared to before he took office.¹⁴
Some states got hammered even harder.
Families in Alaska, California, Colorado, and Hawaii shelled out more than $3,000 extra for groceries during the Biden disaster years.¹⁵
The Heritage Foundation showed the full picture – between runaway inflation and skyrocketing interest rates caused by all that government spending, typical American families lost $8,100 of annual income compared to when Biden took office.¹⁶
That's the hole Trump inherited.
And he's already making progress climbing out of it.
Decades of runaway spending finally catching up to Washington
Here's what nobody in the Swamp wants to admit.
The inflation crisis didn't just start with Biden.
Washington's been on a spending binge for years that exploded after 9/11 when the military-industrial complex and their bought-and-paid-for politicians cashed in massively on costly forever wars.
Senator Lindsey Graham and his uni-party stooges spent trillions on wars that enriched defense contractors while American families got stuck with the bill through inflation.
The global war on terror became a blank check for Washington insiders to raid the Treasury.
Biden just cranked it up to 11 with his reckless domestic spending spree.
Now Trump's trying to clean up decades of fiscal insanity while fighting the same Swamp creatures who created the mess.
The fact that he's already delivering lower grocery prices shows what happens when you have a President who actually cares about working families instead of lobbyists and special interests.
Trump's progress is real but there's a long way to go
The 3% drop in Thanksgiving prices is welcome news for families trying to make ends meet.
But let's be clear about where we really stand.
Those grocery bills are still 19% higher than before the Biden inflation surge began.¹⁷
A typical Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people costs about $58 this year according to the American Farm Bureau Federation.¹⁸
That's down from $61 last year.
But it's still way up from the $48.90 families paid in 2019 before Washington Democrats went on their spending rampage.¹⁹
When you adjust for inflation and look at purchasing power, the American Farm Bureau found this is actually the least expensive Thanksgiving meal in 39 years of their survey – except for the pandemic year of 2020.²⁰
That's because wages have finally started outpacing food price increases.²¹
Americans had to work 9% less time to afford this year's Thanksgiving dinner compared to last year.²²
That's real progress.
But families shouldn't have to work harder just to get back to where they were before Biden wrecked the economy.
The LendingTree survey from May 2024 told the ugly truth – 80% of Americans now view fast food as a luxury because of how expensive everything became under Biden.²³
That's the real legacy of the Swamp's spending addiction.
Trump's fighting to restore affordability and rebuild the middle class that Washington's political elite have been destroying for decades.
Any relief is a start.
But there's a long way to go to get costs under control after the Biden surges and years of out-of-control spending.
Trump proved he can deliver results when he's not being sabotaged by the Swamp.
Now he needs to keep the pressure on to finish the job and make America affordable again.
