Since the moment the results of the 2020 Presidential election became official, speculation has raged over whether Donald Trump would run again in 2024.
But the former President could be losing the interest of voters in the Republican nomination contest.
And now he has more doubts cast about 2024 after this jaw-dropping defeat.
The bad news Donald Trump just received would have any potential 2024 presidential candidate second guessing everything after he got hit with a loss that may derail any plans he already has set for 2024.
It’s hard to argue with the idea that former President Donald Trump remains the leader of the Republican Party.
His endorsement is still the most sought after in Conservative politics, and whether he speaks positively or negatively about a candidate can very well make or break their political fortunes.
On top of that, numerous polls have consistently shown President Trump is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination in 2024, if he decides to run.
But those same polls show that one potential 2024 candidate has picked up huge ground on Trump and if he opts out of the 2024 contest Republican voters currently prefer Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) above all other possible candidates.
And quite frankly, it’s not even close – Governor DeSantis stands head and shoulders above the rest of the potential Republican field, and is the only conservative who seems to be gaining more and more support, momentum, and notoriety with each passing day.
But up until this point, it’s always been clear that despite DeSantis’ growing popularity, Republicans still prefer Trump.
That could all be changing, though, as Governor DeSantis took the top spot in the Western Conservative Summit’s straw poll over the weekend.
For the second year in a row, the thousands of Conservatives who attended the summit in Aurora, Colorado in person and thousands more who watched online voted DeSantis their favorite in the summit’s annual approval poll.
Governor DeSantis’ victory makes him the first candidate to win the poll in back-to-back years ever and serves as just the latest bit of news that may indicate the tide is beginning to turn in a direction that could derail any plans Trump has for 2024.
“Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) bested former President Trump for the second year in a row in a 2024 presidential election straw poll conducted Saturday,” The Hill reported.
“The percentage of voters who said they approved of DeSantis for the 2024 race topped the percentage for Trump by over 3 points, a slight 0.6 point increase from last year’s results.” the report continued. “Voters selected all the candidates of whom they approve for a 2024 run in the poll, with 71 percent saying they approve of DeSantis compared to 67.7 percent who approve of Trump.”
Throughout his time as Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis’ popularity has been on the rise – both within the state and nationally.
Conservatives, and any other Americans not brainwashed by the radical Left, have been unable to ignore the fact that DeSantis is one of the few Republican politicians who always seems to be willing to fight the Left on every front.
And to DeSantis credit, he doesn’t just fight, he wins.
Whether it’s fighting government lockdowns, school closures and forced vaccinations during COVID, or his most recent effort to stop a taxpayer-funded $35 million handout to the Tampa Bay Rays for a spring training facility, hard-working Americans know DeSantis is fighting for them.
He may not have even mentioned the idea publicly, but if Governor Ron DeSantis does decide to run for President, he may be a formidable foe for anyone he faces – including Donald Trump.
