Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign is bracing for a battle to regain the White House in 2024.
There’s speculation some of his earliest — and most influential — backers are backing off.
And the former president is agonizing over whether one of the loudest voices on Fox News will abandon him.
The 2024 election is shaping up to be an epic battle in every way possible.
Donald Trump is reportedly sorting the big-time stars at the Fox News Channel into camps that will support his next run and those that will back his biggest opponents.
Rolling Stone published a report claiming that Trump believes Sean Hannity will remain on his side while Laura Ingram might defect to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ camp.
“In private discussions, Trump has cataloged which major on-air personalities, hosts, and shows he views as steadfastly all-in ‘for Trump,’ which ones he sees as possibly defecting, and which he deems ‘against Trump.’” Rolling Stone reported. “For instance, Trump views Sean Hannity as firmly in his column, and has expressed some doubt about which camp Laura Ingraham might end up in come 2024.”
Ingraham keeps dropping hints that she’s not ready to embrace another Trump campaign.
During an interview with Northern Virginia Magazine, Ingraham refused to commit to supporting him in 2024 even as she praised his pro-working class agenda including standing up to Communist China, negotiating fair trade deals, and securing the border.
“I’m not saying I’m there for him yet,” Ingraham began. “But I think whether he runs or not — I mean, his policies worked,” she added. “Trump’s blueprint for a forward-looking, optimistic set of pro-American policies — that blueprint, without a doubt, is winning.”
Back in April Ingraham revealed what seems to be her biggest gripe with the former president.
While she was interviewing former Senior White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway, Ingraham complained that Sean Hannity pushed Trump to endorse the leftist Dr. Oz as a Republican Senate Candidate in Pennsylvania.
Many conservatives, including Ingraham, are incensed Trump endorsed Oz who has pushed for red flag confiscation laws, transgender surgeries for children, and abortion-on-demand.
“Hannity, I think, I believe endorsed Oz and I think that’s, you know, that’s probably not inconsequential for President Trump,” Ingraham informed Conway. “You wouldn’t answer the question whether it was a mistake. I think it was a mistake to endorse Oz. I’ll say it. I’m not afraid to say it. It was a mistake to endorse Oz.”
Ingraham has also been sending signals she’s willing to support Governor Ron DeSantis when she traveled to Florida to host a town hall event.
That has to be making Trump’s team nervous considering that Ingraham was one the earliest supporters of Trump’s Make America Great Again mission.
Now Trump is seriously questioning whether he can get the full support of Fox News’ primetime lineup for his 2024 run, because there’s real risk some top Fox hosts will decide Governor Ron DeSantis will be the best America First bet to get similar policies with a different name on the ballot.
