CNN’s Chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta is a prime example of what’s wrong with American media.
He’s always looking for a “viral gotcha” moment with President Trump.
But Donald Trump just humiliated CNN’s Jim Acosta on live television. Here’s what he said that left Acosta in stunned silence.
The White House is hosting daily press briefings with President Trump and members of his administration giving updates on the fight against the Chinese coronavirus.
At these briefings, reporters have the opportunity to ask President Trump anything they want to answer questions many Americans are wondering about this terrible pandemic and the response to it.
But rather than take advantage of such a tremendous opportunities, showboaters like CNN’s Jim Acosta would rather make it all about themselves – hoping to ask a viral “gotcha” question to create controversy surrounding President Trump.
So when Acosta was called on, he questioned the President about past statements Trump made about the government’s ability to contain the coronavirus.
The President wasn’t falling for it.
“If you look at those individual statements, they’re all true. Stay calm, it will go away. You know it is going away. And it will go away. And we’re going to have a great victory,” Trump replied.
Trump went on to explain to all those watching at home how Acosta was merely trying to put himself in the spotlight instead of doing real journalism.
“It’s people like you and CNN that say things like that, that — it’s why people just don’t want to listen to CNN anymore. You can ask a normal question,” the President added.
And that’s when President Trump dropped the hammer on Acosta by noting that he asked a “nasty, snarky question” when he could’ve used the time to answer questions Americans actually want answered.
“Instead of asking a nasty, snarky question like that, you should ask a real question and other than that, I’m going to go to somebody else,” the President concluded.
And with that, the President moved on and Acosta was left to pick his jaw up off the ground so he could whine about the exchange later on CNN.
