For years now the American people have demanded more accountability from the government, particularly when it comes to policies that actively harm the nation.
The Trump administration is finally delivering on that promise.
And Donald Trump just took a chainsaw to one of Joe Biden’s most destructive policies.
Relief is on the way
During his first term in office, President Donald Trump undertook a historic deregulation effort in order to get government out of the way and allow the American economy to boom.
And that’s exactly what happened.
For proof, look no further than Trump’s efforts with the energy sector, where gas prices were under $2.40 per gallon when he left office in 2021, before exploding under former President Joe Biden and Democrats’ environmental extremist agenda.
Now, Trump is running things back for a second term, and this time, he’s doubling down.
After taking office, Trump Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the administration’s intention for a historic deregulation effort, starting with Biden’s “Clean Power Plan 2.0” rules.
Under those rules, the vast majority of American power plants would have been shut down due to their use of fossil fuels, which would have brought the nation to its knees.
“President Trump promised to kill the Clean Power Plan in his first term, and we continue to build on that progress now,” Zeldin declared.
Of course, Biden only implemented those rules after the Supreme Court struck down former President Barack Obama’s original “Clean Power Plant” rules in 2022.
One step at a time
And like his lawless regime did countless times throughout their term, they attempted to simply strong-arm their agenda into reality despite the fact that their “Clean Power Plan 2.0” rules contained the exact same command-and-control policies the Court previously ruled unconstitutional.
“The U.S. Supreme Court struck down the 2015 Clean Power Plan in West Virginia v. EPA, holding that the major questions doctrine barred EPA from misusing the Clean Air Act to manipulate Americans’ energy choices and shift the balance of the nation’s electrical fuel mix,” an EPA press release stated.
“The Biden Administration issued its own rule in 2024, which many critics say is just another attempt to achieve the unlawful fuel-shifting goals of the Clean Power Plan,” the press release added.
Ultimately, getting rid of the “Clean Power Plan” rules is yet another major step towards following through on Trump’s promise to bring down energy prices for working-class Americans.
“In reconsidering the Biden-Harris rule that ran afoul of Supreme Court case law, we are seeking to ensure that the agency follows the rule of law while providing all Americans with access to reliable and affordable energy,” Zeldin said.
Furthermore, Zeldin also announced on social media that the EPA is taking 31 additional steps to slash regulations and therefore bring down prices even more for Americans.
“The Environmental Protection Agency is initiating 31 historic actions to fulfill President Trump’s promise to unleash American energy, revitalize our auto industry, restore the rule of law, and give power back to the States. EPA will be reconsidering many suffocating rules that restrict nearly every sector of our economy and cost Americans trillions of dollars,” Zeldin declared.
Outside of wasteful, reckless government spending, nothing has played a bigger role in the rising prices of goods and services than energy costs.
And with government spending being slashed by DOGE, inflation falling faster than experts expected, and gas prices now at their lowest level since 2021, it seems President Trump is well on his way to making good on his promises to Make America Great Again.
