Liz Cheney suffered a crushing defeat in the Wyoming GOP Republican Primary, losing by a whopping 37 points to Trump-backed challenger Harriet Hageman.
But despite suffering a massive loss, Liz Cheney immediately began laying the foundation to run for President as the anti-Trump Republican in 2024.
However, Cheney soon got a reality check from an unexpected place.
Fellow RINO and Never Trumper Mitt Romney poured cold water on the idea of Liz Cheney winning the Republican nomination for President in 2024.
“I’m not going to encourage anyone to run for President. I’ve done that myself, and that’s something I’m not doing again. I don’t know if she really wants to do that. She would not become the nominee if she were to run,” Romney told reporters. “I can’t imagine that would occur.”
Even Mitt Romney refuses to entertain the idea of Liz Cheney defeating Donald Trump.
Romney also admitted that Donald Trump changed the GOP from the Bush-Cheney Party of endless wars and open borders to a Party of everyday, working class America First conservatives.
“My Party has changed a great deal over the last decade. It will change again over the next 10 years. I can’t tell you how, but I think we’ll have more voices than one at some point. But right now one voice, and that’s President Trump’s voice, is the loudest and the strongest and bucking him is something people will do at their peril,” Romney continued.
Romney said the Republican nominee in 2024 will either be Donald Trump or someone seen as one of his supporters.
“I don’t think someone who is seen outside the Trump circle would have any realistic chance of becoming the nominee in 2024, barring something I can’t foresee at this stage,” Romney explained.
“If he doesn’t run again, I think it’ll be people who either were supporters of his or people who didn’t say much about him and then would be open to become the nominee,” Romney declared.
There is no market for RINOs like Cheney to lead the Republican Party.
