Donald Trump is considered the leader of the Republican Party.
His endorsement carries a lot of weight.
And Donald Trump’s supporters let out a sigh of relief after he retracted this one endorsement.
Conservative commentator Wayne Allyn Root recently interviewed Donald Trump.
During the interview, Trump flat-out denied that he endorsed California Representative Kevin McCarthy to be the next Speaker of the House if Republicans win back the majority this fall.
“No, I haven’t,” Trump said in response to a question from Root. “No, no, no. I haven’t,” Trump continued, before adding, “No, I endorsed him in his race. But I haven’t endorsed anybody for speaker.”
Although Trump didn’t endorse Kevin McCarthy for Speaker of the House, he did endorse his re-election to Congress.
“In Congress, Kevin is a tireless advocate for the people of Bakersfield and the Central Valley. He is working incredibly hard to Stop Inflation, Deliver Water Solutions, and Hold Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi Accountable for their catastrophic failures and dereliction of duty,” Trump wrote in an endorsement he issued last month. “As Leader, Kevin is building a ‘Commitment to America’ platform to Grow our Economy, Fight Big Tech Censorship, Secure the Border, Strengthen our Military, Defend the Second Amendment, Improve our Health Care, Restore American Energy Independence, Support our Brave Veterans, and Uphold the Rule of Law and American Values.”
If Republicans take back the House in November, McCarthy is viewed as the favorite to become the next Speaker.
However, this doesn’t sit well with conservatives who do not trust McCarthy due to his willingness to cut deals with Democrats and his very moderate voting record.
The last thing conservatives want to see happen is for the GOP to take back the House and elect a Speaker similar to John Boehner and Paul Ryan, who were the last two GOP Republican House Speakers.
Ryan and Boehner sold out conservatives on multiple issues, as both helped to fund Obama’s socialist agenda and Ryan even sabotaged Trump’s border wall plans.
Not only does Kevin McCarthy come from the same wing of the GOP as John Boehner and Paul Ryan, but he’s also on tape saying Donald Trump needs to resign from office following the events at the Capitol on January 6.
Right now no one really knows who will be the Speaker if Republicans take back the House in November.
But without Trump’s endorsement, McCarthy will likely be challenged by someone from the more conservative wing of the Party.
After the move many are speculating if Trump has changed his mind about 2024 and being nominated as Speaker himself, given Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ surging popularity with GOP voters.
In March Trump said he was uninterested in being Speaker if the GOP retakes House after Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said during a Trump rally he’d nominate the MAGA King to be Speaker of the House if Republicans take back the House this fall.
One thing is certain after the disaster that President Joe Biden, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Democrat rule in Washington, D.C. has been for the country.
There’s no denying that America would be in much better shape with DeSantis in the White House and Trump running things in Congress.
