The surprise hit movie of the year has been Sound of Freedom.
According to Newsweek, the independent film grossed nearly $200-Million and made a larger profit than supposed blockbusters this year like, Scream VI, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Air, Cocaine Bear, Insidious: The Red Door, The Flash and Fast X.
Sound of Freedom caught fire with audiences of all stripes with its strong anti-child sex slave message.
However, conservatives and Christians more than anyone else appreciated the lack of woke propaganda in the flick.
And now, there’s a new movie available in select theaters that is striking a chord with the same audience.
And it’s already surpassing some major milestones that have leftist producers, directors and actors steaming with jealousy.
A new movie is out chronicling the start of the Duck Dynasty.
Duck Dynasty was a massive hit show for A&E that followed the unlikely millionaires the Robertson family and their thriving duck call business.
Fathom Events is airing The Blind, the story of a young Phil Robertson – the patriarch of the family – as he launches his business, meets his future wife Kay and battles with an addiction to the bottle.
In an interview with the Daily Wire’s Andrew Klavan, the movie’s director, Andrew Hyatt said it was difficult for Robertson to share with the world the story of this part of his life, but that he believed it would be worth it in the end.
“Here’s the worst parts of me, the worst parts of my life … but if it’s gonna help people struggling with their own demons, let’s go for it,” Hyatt said of the family’s response to the project. “The story of Phil Robertson and his family started long before the fame of Duck Dynasty. This is a side of the story never before seen on the screen. A rich story of redemption, forgiveness, and finding strength through faith that I am positive will resonate with audiences around the world, especially those struggling with their own inner demons and seeking a light in the darkness.”
And Robertson’s story does appear to be resonating with audiences as The Blind is breaking records and doing it without the standard woke propaganda typically inserted into Hollywood movies.
Fathom Events is a company that brings special events and limited-edition movies to big screens across the country.
You’ve likely seen previews for some Fathom Events offerings during your trips to the cinema.
Typical selections from Fathom Events include things like operas from the Met, re-releases of old classics, and indie films.
But it’s the Duck Dynasty prequel that has now broken the record for most successful Fathom Events release in the history of the company.
The Blind has now surpassed $15-Million at the box office for Fathom Events.
Hollywood executives thought the record-breaking honor would go to Bottoms.
Released earlier this year, Bottoms is basically Fight Club, but set in high school, featuring all gay characters and without the quality of the original.
The success of The Blind and failures of Bottoms illustrate the disconnect between Big Media and its audiences in 2023 America.
