Chuck Schumer and the Democrats kicked off Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial on Tuesday.
But even though the radical Left is determined to punish Donald Trump, most Americans are more concerned about the lockdowns, forced closings, and economy-crippling mandates.
And even CNN’s Jake Tapper was surprised when this one Republican Senator made this admission about Donald Trump’s impeachment trial.
Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey was one of the RINOs who voted against Rand Paul’s resolution declaring it unconstitutional for the Senate to hold an impeachment trial since Donald Trump is no longer the President.
And during a recent interview with Fake News CNN’s Jake Tapper, Toomey stood by his belief that Donald Trump committed an impeachable offense on January 6 with his speech at the rally that preceded the riot at the Capitol.
“I stand by everything I’ve said, Jake. I still think the best outcome would have been for the president to resign. Obviously, he chose not to do that. Now starting Tuesday, I’m going to be a juror, and my job is going to be to objectively evaluate the very specific article of impeachment that is going to be presented to us, has been presented to us, examine that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to listen to the arguments on both sides and make the decision that I think is right,” Toomey began.
But Toomey didn’t stop there.
Although Pat Toomey admitted that there was no chance of conviction in the Senate, he dismissed the notion that impeachment was unconstitutional since Donald Trump is no longer in office, instead offering his own misguided interpretation of the Constitution.
“I think it’s very unlikely. You did have 45 Republican senators vote to suggest that they didn’t think it was appropriate to conduct a trial, so you can infer how likely it is that those folks will vote to convict. I disagreed with their assessment. I think it is Constitutional. I think it’s clearly Constitutional to conduct a Senate trial with respect to an impeachment. In this case, the impeachment occurred prior to the president leaving office. My job will be to listen to both sides of this, evaluate the arguments, and make a decision,” Toomey added.
Of course, this is the same Pat Toomey who ran as a Tea Party Conservative in 2010 only to turn around and work hand-in-glove with Barack Obama on a bill that would have created a national gun registration database for every gun owner in America.
Pat Toomey is doing what he’s been doing since 2010: Appeasing liberals and stabbing conservatives in the back.
