There’s an internal civil war taking place right now within the Democrat Party.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is at the center of it.
And former Clinton adviser James Carville said one word that sent Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez off the rails.
During a recent interview with PBS, former Clinton adviser and Democrat Party strategist, James Carville, blamed the Party’s drift into “stupid wokeness” for the shellacking Democrats took at the polls last week in New Jersey and Virginia.
After he made his attack on Critical Race Theory in schools a central part of his campaign, Republican Glenn Youngkin trounced Democrat Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia Gubernatorial Election.
As Carville also pointed out, Democrats who supported defunding the police also suffered massive upsets at the polls.
“[W]hat went wrong is just stupid wokeness,” said Carville. “Don’t just look at Virginia and New Jersey. Look at Long Island, look at Buffalo, look at Minneapolis, even look at Seattle, Wash. I mean, this ‘defund the police’ lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln’s name off of schools. I mean that — people see that.”
AOC, who was the leader of the left-wing movement to defund the police and put woke identity politics at the center of the Party’s messaging, fired back on social media, claiming the word “woke” doesn’t really exist and only Fox News and old folks like Carville use the word.
“Like the average audience for people seriously using the word ‘woke’ in a 2021 political discussion are James Carville and Fox News pundits so that should tell you all you need to know,” Ocasio-Cortez posted on Twitter.
AOC added that people like Carville are insulting younger voters by using terms like “woke” to describe them.
Because of the condescending attitude toward young folks displayed by the Party elites, AOC claimed the youth vote refused to turn out for Democrats.
“And before people disingenuously complain ‘woke’ is denigrating to older people, it’s actually pundits like Carville using terms like ‘woke’ to insult voters under 45 that’s denigrating. Don’t wonder why youth turnout falls when Dems talk about them like this. We need everyone,” Ocasio-Cortez added.
On Tuesday, November 2, voters sent Democrats a clear message that they wanted a course correction.
In dozens of races across the country, Americans rejected the socialist agenda put forth by Democrats like AOC.
AOC likely understands this, but she is gaslighting about the role woke ideology played on November 2 to try to hold off any challenges to her position of prominence within the Party.
