Donald Trump’s decision to run for President in 2024 had an impact outside of politics.
It also led to Fox News making a change in its on-air talent, with the network announcing that Lara Trump’s position as a paid contributor was ending.
Fox News has a long-standing network policy that prohibits hiring anyone who is running for office or anyone with close ties to a political candidate.
Since Lara is married to Eric Trump, she is leaving now that Donald is officially in the race.
“We appreciate Lara’s valuable contributions across Fox News Media programming,” a Fox News spokesperson said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.
Lara Trump, joined Fox News in March of 2021, has always been a staunch ally of her father-in-law in appearances on the network.
However, she hasn’t appeared on Fox News since Donald Trump declared himself a candidate for President on November 15.
Of course, Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch, who also owns the New York Post and The Wall Street Journal, recently announced that he was no longer supporting Donald Trump.
Murdoch is now backing Ron DeSantis in 2024.
The Murdoch-owned Post and Journal have openly criticized Trump and expressed opposition to him running for a second term.
As for Lara Trump, she previously served as a popular surrogate for Donald’s campaign in both 2016 and 2020, making appearances all across the country and rallying women voters behind her father-in-law.
Since Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner have decided not to play a role in the 2024 campaign to spend more time with their small children, Lara is likely to play an even bigger role for Donald Trump this time around.
She’s also teased the possibility of running for Congress.
In the past, she was rumored to be considering a run for the U.S. Senate in North Carolina.
Even though she decided not to run in the past, North Carolina has a gubernatorial election in 2024 and RINO Senator Thom Tillis is up for reelection in 2026.
Lara Trump has a lot of opportunities as she prepares to join her father-in-law’s campaign and try to help him win another term as President.
