Some believe with Joe Biden in the White House, Fox News will gain back a chunk of the 40% of viewers they lost leading up to the election.
It was evident that Fox’s base was not happy with what they believed was Fox leaning to the left.
And now, Fox News just made a major announcement about its viewers that is turning heads.
In a speech at a recent investors conference, Lachlan Murdoch, CEO of Fox News, told the crowd he anticipated ratings to rebound with Biden in the White House.
Murdoch believes the loss of viewers leading up to the election is due to their disappointment with the election outcome.
This is not exactly what many of the polls out there are showing.
By in large, Fox viewers left the network because they felt that it was becoming liberal and that many of the hosts were spewing anti-Trump rhetoric.
Murdoch stated that nearly 75,000,000 Americans voted for Donald Trump and that their demographic deserves a news channel that reflects their values and beliefs.
According to Murdoch, Fox News can fill the void many Trump supporters are feeling.
“That’s what our job is now with the Biden administration. You’ll see our ratings improve for the next four years,” Murdoch added.
Murdoch believes that much like MSNBC ratings soared during the Trump years for their anti-Trump programming, Fox News will see a bump in viewership as they do the hard-hitting reporting on the Biden White House that the Trump supporters crave.
But as for the anti-Trump talk leading up to the election? Murdoch doesn’t seem to have an answer for that.
Murdoch’s comments don’t seem to line up with what Fox News executives really believe.
If they thought there would be a natural bump in viewership, why do they appear to be scrambling to create all-new opinion programming at 7 and 11pm?
These new programs seem to be angled in such a way that they’ll bring back the Trump supporters who had stopped watching months ago.
