Fox News responded to this billion-dollar lawsuit and what they did shocked everyone

Left-wing activists are convinced they found a way to take down Fox News.

Unfortunately for the liberals, things didn’t go as planned.

And Fox News responded to this billion-dollar lawsuit, and what they did shocked everyone.

Voting machine company Smartmatic filed a claim against Fox News hosts Lou Dobbs, Jeanine Pirro, and Maria Bartiromo as well as Trump allies Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell over claims that Hugo Chavez, the now deceased Venezuelan dictator, played a role in the company’s founding and that the machines vote totals were tampered with in foreign countries.

The lawsuit filed was for $2.7 billion.

Many on the Left believed that Smartmatic had an airtight case that could drag Fox News down and take a bite out of Fox’s financial empire worth billions of dollars.

But Fox News fought back.

Paul Clement, former solicitor general and Fox News Network’s attorney, said that the lawsuit attacked the American principle of free press.

“This suit strikes at the heart of the First Amendment. Smartmatic’s theory is fundamentally incompatible with the reality of the modern news network and deeply rooted principles of free speech law,” said Clement.

In a separate statement, the network blasted the lawsuit saying Fox News has every right to report and comment on allegations made about the election.

“FOX News has moved to dismiss the Smartmatic lawsuit because it is meritless. If the First Amendment means anything, it means that Fox cannot be held liable for fairly reporting and commenting on competing allegations in a hotly contested and actively litigated election. We are proud of our election coverage, which stands in the highest tradition of American journalism” the statement read.

Dominion has also filed suit against Powell, Giuliani, and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell over claims that their voting machines altered election totals.

The media’s coverage of the lawsuits has been positive. It is treated as almost a given that these companies are bound to bankrupt their critics.

However, Fox’s filing goes to show that these companies have serious First Amendment cases to make.
