Gavin Newsom has been posturing behind the scenes to appear as the next big thing for the Democrat Party.
But not everyone is thrilled about that possibility.
And Gavin Newsom just turned beet red in anger after being served this one reality check from his own party.
Gavin Newsom gets a head start on his 2028 Presidential Primary run
Democrats are still scrambling to clean up the mess from the 2024 election after Vice President Kamala Harris was crushed at the ballot box and cost her party control of Congress.
And for the first time in the last decade, there’s no clear face expected to take the helm of the party for the next Presidential election.
But that is not stopping Democrats from engaging in internal battles to try and emerge as the top pick for the 2028 Democrat primary.
Their battle plan is to appear as the head of resistance against incoming President Donald Trump.
California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom is playing his hand by calling together a special session in the California legislature to install special protections for illegal aliens, radical green energy policies, abortion, and other woke ideals.
This comes in anticipation that President-elect Donald Trump will steamroll these policies with trifecta control in Washington, D.C.
Other Democrats, like Senator-elect Adam Schiff (D-CA) and the elected Democrat Governor of Washington, Bob Ferguson, have resorted to pulling out the recycled old and tired resistance talking points that were used during Trump’s first Presidential tenure.
They are hoping to become the first targets of Donald Trump in order to boost their national recognition in order to springboard them to the forefront of 2028 conversations.
Governor Newsom, however, got his head start over a year ago when he forced himself in front of every camera and newsreel possible in order to position himself as President Joe Biden’s inevitable replacement.
Of course, his plan fell through when the Democrat leadership elected to recruit Vice President Kamala Harris to take the helm in order to preserve Biden’s existing fundraising war chest.
But not all Democrats are vying for half a decade of battle with the Trump administration, however.
Washington state Democrat tells Newsom to bring his own ‘house’ to order
Representative Adam Smith (D-WA) delivered a staunch warning to Governor Newsom during his recent appearance on Fox News’ Special Report.
“If you want to stand up to Trump, I suggest you don’t ever mention him,” Representative Smith began. “I suggest you govern well.”
Smith slammed Newsom and Ferguson over putting their national ambitions and targeting Trump ahead of fixing the monumental issues that their states are facing.
“We have problems with crime, homelessness, drug abuse, and just inefficient and ineffective government in too many places,” explained the Washington state Democrat.
“Let’s stop with the, ‘I’m going to stop Trump,’” he continued. “What are you doing for the state of Washington? What are you doing for the state of California?”
Smith pointed to the laundry list of failures by state and local governments that have committed to the radical Left Democrat Party as the reason that Donald Trump crushed their party on Election Day.
“I think our party needs to do a better job of standing up against some of the extreme Left policies that have really propelled Donald Trump forward,” argued Smith. “And I’d give the same advice to Gavin Newsom that I’m going to give to our new Governor, Bob Ferguson, here in the state of Washington.”
King County, Washington, the county that includes Seattle, has become the face of failed Democrat ideologies and the epicenter of dysfunction.
“I represent a portion of Seattle in the King County area,” he continued. “We have problems with crime, homelessness, drug abuse, and just inefficient and ineffective government.”
“If we want to offer an alternative to Trump, then offer an alternative. Govern,” slammed Smith. “Deal with the challenges we face.”
Smith believes that if Democrats want to win elections moving forward, they need to have solutions that work to present before voters.
The 2024 Presidential election proved to America that treating Donald Trump as the enemy of the people is not a successful strategy for Democrats.
And some Democrats are learning that to be the case.
But some party giants like Gavin Newsom have shown zero indication that they plan to learn from this mistake.
